One of the best Chinese restaurants in The Netherlands. I'm a fan. I have a Chinese wife and ever since she introduced me to this restaurant years ago, this is my primary go to restaurant. The food is always fresh, with a good taste and with enough variation on the menu you always end up picking different choices.
If you're standing in front of Hoi Tin as a non-Chinese person, at first you might ask yourself if you really want to enter here. It appears not only chaotic, but also busy and tight fitted. And that's true for a part, the restaurants consists of a couple of hallways ending up in different rooms in which the tables are set up. Plus you first need to walk by the pastries which are sold in front of the restaurant. But all this also has its charm, it reminds one of Hong Kong and cities alike. For me, this unforced and loose way of having lunch or diner works. You won't find the French so-called posh etiquette, just eating for the sake of the nice food, nothing more, nothing less.
The service is friendly, quick and without hassle. The bill is always a pleasant surprise, which is why're tempted to eat more than is healthy for you. But you obviously cannot blame the restaurant for this. In short: you have to try this restaurant when you're in Amsterdam.
