“A design hotel to stay in central Amsterdam”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

Friendly service in this design hotel, located south of central Amsterdam.
Well furnished rooms, good bar and breakfast buffet (expensive if not included in the room rate).
In room expresso machine and electrical kettle.

I stayed here with my husband last weekend and it was absolutely fantastic. The reception staff were very friendly and polite. As we were on our anniversary they upgraded us to a canal view room and there was a card and two mugs filled with sweets and chocolates for us which was very sweet. Our room was spotless, very modern and chic. The bar in the hotel was gorgeous and the wine was good. Breakfast was also of a very high quality. The tram stops right outside the hotel (tram 4 & 25 takes you right into Amsterdam central station). You are also a short 5 minute wak from a variety of fancy restaurants. We enjoyed a meal at Le Express which was a lovely French restaurant. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. Perfect for couples and friends.

Well located for the Museums (10 mins walk) and restaurants, Hotel Notting Hill is a very well appointed, modern hotel with friendly, accommodating staff.
We stayed in a twin room, which was narrow, but long. One criticism would be the bathroom door, which being frosted, did not provide the privacy we would have liked, being two friends sharing a room. We ate at the Brasserie - best chips I've tasted in a while-but we did not have breakfast here, as the breakfast buffet was 23e. The room info was a little ambiguous, leading us to believe one could get a 'quick' breakfast of a coffee and croissant between 10-12, which turned out to be incorrect. However, there are plenty of eating establishments in the vicinity.
In general, a very pleasant stay

Room Tip: Sounds like you may have to upgrade to get a canal view and more space. Canal view may also have les...

I would have been happy with this hotel if we'd paid twice the rate we got!

100% agree with all of the reviews. You are only a short tram ride (5 minutes) or walk (10-15 minutes) away from most of the Amsterdam attractions. Room was clean and everything in the hotel felt brand new.

The staff were excellent, and we enjoyed a nice meal in the hotel one night as well.

Good breakfast with a broad choice of hot and cold food for all travelers.

Head north from the hotel to get to the city center by exiting the hotel and turning left.
If you head west along the canal you can get to the beautiful Vondelpark and Museumplein
Eastward along the canal will take you to the Zoo (Artis)
If you don't fancy walking you can get to all of these from the tram stops near the hotel as well.

What can I say. My wife and I arrived there as part of our honeymoon and we were immediately struck by the friendliness of the staff and the chic look of the reception. How cool is the leather suitcase wall behind reception?
As we were on our honeymoon, without asking, the female receptionist upgraded us to a canal view room, and what a room! Modern, clean, roomy and overall very chic!
The location of the hotel is right on the corner of a main street and canal, a 5 minute walk from the Heineken Experience (well worth a visit). Great for people watching from your hotel room. It takes 30 minutes to walk to Dam Square, but there is so much going on around the hotel area and between the hotel and the centre. 2 minute stroll south of the hotel there is a market selling food, clothing and knick knacks. This is on everyday. There are some cool shops nearby too, like The Hutspot which sells clothing, art and pieces of one off bits of furniture.
The hotel service is the best we have experienced and would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to experience Amsterdam at the top end.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a canal view room so you can people watch

My wife and I stayed here for a weekend at the beginning of December 2012. The room was spacious and comfortable (one of the deluxe canal-view rooms, well worth paying for); the staff were all friendly, considerate and helpful; the location was convenient; the dinner menu was a bit limited but the meals were lovely. AND, just to bump it up from an easily-deserved high 4-star rating, the hotel's special off-season package was SUPERB value.

We saw a Groupon advert which caught our eye, but booked direct ourselves (which I would always advise to check first in any case).

I will definitely go back to Notting Hill - quite a special, cosy, boutique hotel, especially for couples wanting to spend some time in the lounges as well as out and about exploring the city.

Room Tip: I didn't see the 'basement' rooms, which are allegedly a bit 'dim' (hardly, supr...
