“YOU HAVE TO STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

What can I say. My wife and I arrived there as part of our honeymoon and we were immediately struck by the friendliness of the staff and the chic look of the reception. How cool is the leather suitcase wall behind reception?
As we were on our honeymoon, without asking, the female receptionist upgraded us to a canal view room, and what a room! Modern, clean, roomy and overall very chic!
The location of the hotel is right on the corner of a main street and canal, a 5 minute walk from the Heineken Experience (well worth a visit). Great for people watching from your hotel room. It takes 30 minutes to walk to Dam Square, but there is so much going on around the hotel area and between the hotel and the centre. 2 minute stroll south of the hotel there is a market selling food, clothing and knick knacks. This is on everyday. There are some cool shops nearby too, like The Hutspot which sells clothing, art and pieces of one off bits of furniture.
The hotel service is the best we have experienced and would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to experience Amsterdam at the top end.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a canal view room so you can people watch

My wife and I stayed here for a weekend at the beginning of December 2012. The room was spacious and comfortable (one of the deluxe canal-view rooms, well worth paying for); the staff were all friendly, considerate and helpful; the location was convenient; the dinner menu was a bit limited but the meals were lovely. AND, just to bump it up from an easily-deserved high 4-star rating, the hotel's special off-season package was SUPERB value.

We saw a Groupon advert which caught our eye, but booked direct ourselves (which I would always advise to check first in any case).

I will definitely go back to Notting Hill - quite a special, cosy, boutique hotel, especially for couples wanting to spend some time in the lounges as well as out and about exploring the city.

Room Tip: I didn't see the 'basement' rooms, which are allegedly a bit 'dim' (hardly, supr...

Great hotel, well presented and a good location., Regular tram service from right outside of the hotel!
Good service, nice rooms. Would definitley stay here again and the price was affordable. You should consider this hotel as a choice when booking!

The hotel is very new and clean . The room facilities was good and the bed was comfortable . Only thing I found was the room was too small and tight even for asians. It would be better if the room size was bigger . Overally it was a comfortable stay.

Stayed here for 3 nights as part of an Easyjet package

Location is good - it's outside the very central part of Amsterdam which makes it much quieter. It's easy to get to and find (tramlines 4 and 25). A walk to the centre is easily do-able if you don't mind a little walking. The Heineken Experience, large street market and Hermitage are close. There are a number of restaurants/cafes easily walkable if you head towards the centre

The staff were VERY helpful and friendly

The room was much better than I was expecting given the overall cost of the holiday. Fixtures and furnishings were well above average and generally the hotel felt very new

Free internet access was provided by a PC in the lobby area and there was free wi-fi

Breakfast was good with a large choice and unending supply (as ever, the continental tea wasn't up to much though!)

Ate in the restaurant one night and the quality was good and fairly reasonably priced. Menu is a bit limited, but it is not a large hotel

Bar was a little expensive

No problem with leaving our luggage with them all day after checkout (evening flight)

I would consider staying here again

We've just returned from 3 nights here. Very helpful reception (especially as we kept losing our maps!) & good service throughout our stay. We'd just booked the standard room which was lovely and bathroom very nice (although no bath). We were facing onto the main road but the double glazing did a good job of diminshing the trams, if I went again I would ask for a canal or back facing room though. Pluses of the room was a good size, very clean, lovely Nespresso machine (but only give you 3 capsules!) & decor, my only criticism would have expected proper bath sheets, not the small std towel size and would have liked a mirror above the console table. We ate the first evening in London brasserie which was fine as we were late in and just wanted a snack but with so many fab restaurants around the city and in nearby De Pijp I would encourage exploring! We liked the location being out the old centre and walking back to the hotel down Utrechtsestraat is fab, lovely road full of gorgeous little shops, cafe's & bars. If we went back again for another weekend break (& we intend to!), I'd perhaps consider more of Jordaan area but overall for our first visit, really good hotel and do recommend to others.

Room Tip: Would request canal or back of hotel, not facing onto main road but was ok

This hotel provides everything you expect from a boutique hotel: warm decoration, cosy rooms and very friendly staff to help with anything you need to make your stay perfect. Rooms are lovely decorated, really makes one feel at home. Coffee and tea facilities also provided in the room.

Location of the hotel is great, with 4 tramlines nearby and only a couple of stops away from Museumplein and Leidseplein. It is in a nice quiet neighbourhood, without being too far out from the center.

Only downside for me, and that is a personal preference, there is some noise coming from outside and the curtains let some light in. Since I prefer a dark and quiet bedroom, this was a slight inconvenience, but the beds were very comfortable and made up for it.
