“Very stylish...but with a few downsides”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2011

Agree with other reviewers that this is a very hip, stylish hotel..with a few downsides. The motion sensor lights in the bathroom are indeed annoying. And ground floor rooms do indeed smell a bit musty. A hotel this stylish also needs to work on its electrical wiring because all the effort that was put into designing a hip space with clean lines didn't somehow extend to figuring out to minimize the tv/internet/lamp cords. I also second the recommendation of those who said to skip the breakfast and head for a local cafe. There are lots of options a short walk away on Utrechtstraat.

Room Tip: Avoid ground floor--musty smelling and close to breakfast room/lobby.

Dear Natasha,

Thank you very much for your review. Because we are a new hotel we are very interested in the comments from our guests. Thanks to your comments we have improved the hotel the last months with the last details. For example, we have changed the lighting in the bathrooms in the hotel to normal light switches. After 10.00 o’clock we serve a quick breakfast for EUR 9,50. We get a lot of nice reactions on this.
Thank you again for your review and if you are coming to Amsterdam please let us know.
All the best!

I have found a new and very lovely four star hotel in Amsterdam! It is located in the centre, across from the Dutch National Bank! From the hotel there is only a short stroll the the colourful Albert Cuyp Street Market and the interesting Shopping street - Leidsestraat.

It has a lovely reception staffed with friendly people, it has a little lounge, a nice bar and a pleasant restaurant. The rooms are nice too with comfortable beds, modern furniture and airco which makes you feel you are at the North Pole!

I can really recommend this hotel!

It s a nice hotel, where design is really important. Rooms are big and confortable, bathroom is big as well but it could be better ( please, no automatic switch off of the lights in bathroom - or tell it to ur clients!!). Breakfast is not so big but staff is really nice and helpful. From central station you can reach directly the hotel with tram 4 and 24 ( few stops). I think the price is too high ( common problem in Amsterdam...) but for sure you can have anice stay there.

Great hotel close enough to centre to be able to walk to most places. Very polite friendly staff. Rooms tastefully decorated. Absolutely no criticism at all.

The Notting Hill trys very hard but it has a few oddities. A regular business traveller to Amsterdam I've stayed at the hotel a number of times since it opened, each time some little thing leaves me disatisfied.

The rooms are superb but the motion detector bathroom light is very irritating.

Avoid the basement rooms -- the one I got was a little musty smelling. Definitely avoid rooms on the ground floor as there isn't a door between the ground floor rooms and the foyer....it can be noisy.

One huge advanatge is electrical outlets at each bedside table meaning there is no need to crawl under desk etc to power your phone.

Great staff, stylish rooms but a few little kinks to iron out

Very stylish, newly built hotel (as of July 2011.) Lovely, well-designed rooms with all details well-thought out...e.g. little Nespresso machine. Welcoming, helpful staff. Was greeted on a hot day with a cold glass of water... small gestures of a hospitable staff. Great location just outside the famous Amsterdam chaos, but close enough to the action - about a 10 min walk. Tram stop that takes you to the central station right in front of the hotel. Rooms can be pricey ordinarliy but I was able to get a last minute single room for 80 Euros plus tourist tax.
