“Food was OK but pricy and very small portions”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2012

We walked into the place expecting to get their specialty pizza that was advertised on the menu in front of the restaurant. Unfortunately we found out that we came 15 minutes too late to get the pizza because apparently it would take too long for them to make the dough. We decided to go with tagliatelle and ravioli both of which were tiny portions and we left the place hungry. Also had a glass of wine which was terrible, surprising considering that it is an Italian place. The food for what we got was overly pricy as well, especially since it was for lunch.

“The Ravioli was OK but service poor”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2012

We just walked in a bit after mid day. We were greeted by the 50 something Ligurian proprietor Filippo who was on his own so I assume he does it all when things are quiet. His english appeared to be virtually non existant but as my guests were locals perhaps he preferred to work in Dutch. A lot of Italian restaurants pre cook and then re-heat in microwave so when he told us the ravioli was fresh we all ordered that. It was good and we were hungry so that was the best part of our experience. When I asked for a corretto with grappa he said he could not do that and became uncommunicative. He brought me a me a 2oz glass of grappa and he charged 6 euros for a pleasure I did not want. I showed him how to add a couple of drops to coffee but he obviously knew. The bill was 68 euros for the three of us and not value for money. A group of five walked in while we were there and dithered for two or three minutes waiting but Fillipo ignored them and they left. He ran to the door when he realised but was too late they had gone.

“Bad service and borring and broken food.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2011

Cosy looking restaurant in the center of Amsterdam. However, very disapointing experience inside. The only people inside, when we arrived, were us.
First the owner/chef got irritated when we asked to pay with visa. Then, after waiting 40 min for 4 small pizzas, there was a big hole in the middle of one and another missed the ham. When we told about the missing ham, the waitress offered us a discount or some ham. We did not want to wait any longer for the food, so choose the discount. However, the owner did not want to give us that, and just gave the waitress some ham heated up in the microwave. We complained about that and the owner came and was really rude towards us.
The atmosphere was terrible. The owner, even before our disagreements, was yelling at the waitress and after we complained about the food, he was even more loud and clearly not happy to have us in his restaurant.
There could be written a much longer story about our horrible dinner at La Tosca, but here you get the essentials. Bad service and borring and broken food.

“Not serving italian specialites”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2011

We chosed this restaurant expecting a nice family run restaurant. But the carpaccio was not thin sliced, The risotto was ordinary rice in tomato sauce, Pasta chef speciality wast neither tasty or al dente. Our lasagne was ok, but tasted mostly tomato sauce. The owner and waitress felt not skilled or interested in serving us.
