“Beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

This was a great museum. The works are really wonderful and it was much larger than I thought. The line was not bad at all, we just walked in.

“A Must See for Rembrandt Fans”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013

This is the actual house where painter Rembrandt lived and worked. Each room has been restored with furniture and wall hangings to give a true sense of daily life for the painter and his household. Since the home is a traditional Amsterdam canal house, the tour is also a great way to experience what life was like for the typical resident during the 1700s...especially those who could afford to live along the canals. Try and get to the house as early as possible to avoid being cramped by other visitors in the small rooms.

“Great Small Museum!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

The house is preserved in much the state it was when Rembrandt inhabited it, so you can get an idea of domestic life in middle-class Amsterdam and also see the artist's studio and his cabinet of curiosities. When we visited, we got a little lecture demonstration on the techniques and materials used to create pigments in the seventeenth century, which was quite interesting.

“Loved the workshop”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2013

What a treat! We loved the artist's studio and learned about how to mix the paints as Rembrandt has done. We also really loved the room of models - sea animal skeletons, all kinds of stuffed animals, shells, etc. The steps were a bit tough, but crowd was well controlled and we had easy access to all sites, audio info was also very helpful.
