“Fascinating glimpse into Rembrandt's life as well as life at that time period”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

I ready several reviews that voiced a disappointment regarding the lack of Rembrandt paintings at this locaton. It is important to know that fact before going. The house was very interesting, especially loved the kitchen, but the whole house and the history were very interesting.

“Unbelievable and impressive!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

You get to actually see the house where Rembrandt lived, created, taught students and lost in bankruptcy. Museum card ok.

“Very interesting museum!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

Great free audio tour included, there was also demonstrations of the way in which Rembrandt would have mixed his paints, worked the printing press etc. which gave great insight into the way in which he created his masterpieces.

“nice, small museum with characteristic 17th century interior”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2013

When Rembrandt went bankrupt they wrote down everything he had at that moment. Based on that documents they reconstructed the interior of the Rembrandthouse. The house is original, Rembrandt lived and worked here for almost 20 years. During that years Rembrandt produced most of his top-pieces. The museum has a nice 17th century interior and is full of 17th century paintings which Rembrandt traded in. The museum gives a good impression about Rembrandt's live and personality.

“Superb museum!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2013

We visited the Rembrandt House and thought it would be a short stop since it looks like a small building for museum.
However, we spent a couple hours and could have spent more there if we've had more time.
It is a nice museum, with a video telling the story of the artist life.
Then, you can go into different rooms of the house, while listening to the audio guide. There were even explanations of the pictures on the wall, through the audio guide.
It is fascinating to see the different drawings techniques which was demonstrated several times during the day.
In the gallery, there were lots of paintings on displayed, some by Rembrandt himself and others by his students.
It is highly recommended to visit the museum, even if you might not know much about Rembrandt.
