This was the first rijsttafel I'd had in about five years and I chose Blauw specifically because I wanted it to be as good as the memories I had of my last one. The decor and presentation was a little more modern than expected but the overall quality was very good.
There are thre Rijsttafel choice - "meat and vegetable", vegetable or "meat, fish and vegetable". The option with only vegetables was €26.50, the option with all three, €31.50. We chose the latter and while there was quite a lot of dishes - I'd say about 16 to 18 we managed to eat almost everything. Favourites were the spicy Balinese Beef, the Goat and Chicken Sate's, Beef Rendang, the potatoe dish and the cucumber salad. There were two very similar fish sambals but no shellfish dishes. The vegetables in coconut milk were a little bland and the cold Tofu dish was also a little dis-appointing. I also thought another "fresh" dish like the cucumber salad might have helped balance the array spicy sauce dishes.
Both our waitresses were excellent - efficient, knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. The two dips with the complementary crackers were very, tasty the darker spicy one particularly so. Finally, anyone using the City Guides Tripadvisor App should be warned that the map location for Blauw is wrong. I was just about to point out to our taxi-driver that he seemed to be heading to the wrong address when he pulled up beside the restaurant.
