“Worth a try”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2014

The Hotel Restaurant Larende is famous for its eco-friendly nature. The rooms are clean and the interior designs were fabulous. The bar is pretty famous as the staff is friendly and accommodating in nature. The bathrooms were clean and neatly maintained. The room service was excellent and we had staffs attending on the press of a button. One can get wholesome breakfast and enjoy the pleasant stay at the hotel. The sound of trams, vehicles and motorists are a disadvantage, but the location and services are really good and a trusted place for safety and security. We were initially confused whether it was a restaurant or a hotel, later we enjoyed our stay here.

I just arrived home from a stay in Amsterdam at Hotel Larende. It is just the right combination: (1) Reasonable price -- (2) Lovely dining area with a good breakfast included (fruit, warm croissants, eggs, cucumbers/cheese/tomatoes, and espressos to your heart's content) -- (3) Great location near the Jordaan and Museumplein without those areas' crush of tourists and traffic -- (4) Friendly service -- (5) Small but clean rooms with a good bed and shower. I will stay here again when I return to the Netherlands. Highly recommended.

We booked this hotel as we had read good reviews on Tripadvisor but also because we wanted to experience an hotel with an old-fashioned Amsterdam feel. The hotel has a contemporary interior but still retains the charm of old Amsterdam with steep winding stair cases and balconies on the windows. We were very impressed with the comfort of our room; a huge bed with a comfortable mattress, small fridge, TV with UK channels, good storage for a 3 night stay and a very nice wetroom style ensuite. The hotel was spotless and breakfast was typically European with a selection of breads, croissants, cheeses, meats, jams, honey, chocolate spread etc and also an egg dish every day. Unlimited tea and coffee was served at breakfast time and was also available at all times throughout the day. Staff were all very friendly and spoke excellent English. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk into the city centre but you will quickly discover that all roads and canals in Amsterdam criss-cross the city and part of the fun is to find as many alternative routes as possible to move around the attractions of the city. For those who don't like to walk too far the tram stop is close by. Our advice would be - if you are coming to Amsterdam avoid the big name hotel chain groups and opt for an authentic Amsterdam hotel experience, we would highly recommend Hotel Larende.

Room Tip: We were at the back of the hotel and there was no road noise. There was a lovely little balcony(thou...

I booked my mum a room here for two nights over Christmas. I chose it based on how close it is to our flat but couldn't have asked for a nicer place for her to stay. From the moment we arrived to check her in to the fond farewell when she left, the customer service was faultless. The staff were always very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. They even welcomed me and my partner in for coffee (on the house!) while we waited for my mum in the bar. She stayed in a single room at the front of the building. Although small like most European rooms, it was spotless, had a comfy bed and good storage and a nice cosy feel to it. There was a small amount of traffic noise but really not intrusive and the double glazing did its job. Bathroom was a good size and very clean too. Mum said the breakfast was excellent and there was a good choice of food. For anyone worried about the location...don't. It's a short walk to the city centre (15 mins or so) or you can hop on a tram very easily if you prefer not to walk. There are a number of interesting shops, restaurants and delis along the way to the city centre which are definitely worth a look. We can also recommend Cafe Thuys (a couple of doors down from the hotel just before the bridge in the opposite direction to the city centre) as a wonderful little bar serving nice food and a good selection of beers. I would not hesitate to recommend the hotel to other friends and family when they visit us. Thank you to all the staff at the hotel for being so kind to my mum (and to us)!

Room Tip: Rooms at the back may be quieter

Location is good. Not in city center but within walking distance and also very well served by many tram lines.

Our room was quite small like they tend to be in Central Europe. Clean, functional and very nice with an excellent bed. Bathroom was quite big, modern and well equipped. Breakfast was good. Overall hotel's service was good, changing from some minor errors to excellent (young man working on Sunday morning was a sample of a "This is how to serve customers in hotel" -guide book, that's the way things should be taken care of :) Hotel's wifi worked unfortunately better in reception lobby and not inside our room.

Yes, we would go there again!

Room Tip: Rooms not facing the street are very quiet.

The staff were lovely, so friendly. One of the most delicious hotel breakfasts I've had. The room was very clean and had everything we needed and more, including a jacuzzi bath! To top it all off on our last day, they let us leave our cases there all day, print off our boarding pass on their computer and gave us a coffee before we left, such welcoming service, I really hope I can go back

Well settled hotel situated at the nice location of Amsterdam. This hotel is nearby several major attractions so it is not difficult to get there.
Though the hotel is small, but the rooms are clean and luxurious. Comfortable beds, clean crisp white linen and lavish bathroom are the USP of their room. Lobby and room interior is perfectly complimenting with each other. Staff of the hotel is very friendly and have professional approach towards their work. They exactly know how to pamper their customers and fulfill their needs. They make sure that our stay should be comfortable and luxurious.
Highly recommended hotel, no matter with whom you are travelling.
