“Great hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2014

Just back from a weekend break at hotel sebastian in Amsterdam August 23/24/25
A great hotel with really friendly, helpful staff who were always willing to pass on local knowledge of restaurants bars etc
Situated on a lovely canal in the Jordaan district, the lobby bar and restaurant area were beautifully decorated
Our room was at the back of the hotel and was very quiet,it had a large living space and an extremely comfortable bed , we couldn't fault a thing and will definitely will be returning for another visit
Ps thank you so much for the champagne for my birthday, it was a lovely surprise and much appreciated
Neil Michele UK

We slayed at the hotel for one night 23rd August. The hotel was full when we booked so we could only get a small room. The offered to put us on a wait list for a larger room and kept us well informed as to availability. As it turned out, the room thought small was more than adequate and quite comfortable. Bathroom was well equipped with quality soaps, shampoos etc, and very clean. Bed was very comfortable, TV, mini bar and coffee pods.

The breakfast was excellent. We had a night-cap at the bar and the drinks provided were quite generous - size for cost.

Décor excellent

The best part was the quality service. Reception was welcoming, polite and thorough. Excellent recommendations and clear directions. All staff were polite and went out of their way to greet you and offer service.

The location has been mentioned before, and I can only concur. Very nice to be able to get to Jordaan and other Amsterdam locations in a matter of minutes, but have a quiet and secluded place to stay. The room was a little "compact" but we were warned and it didn't lack in comfort, and we did have an evocative view over a canal. The coffee machine was a little temperamental (which we forgot to tell the staff about). Mentioning the staff, we met quite a few of them, and all, to a man and woman, were charm personified. Very helpful and eager to please. We will return on our next visit, but will look to "splash" out on a larger room if possible.

Room Tip: Take a canal view, it is worth it.

Very helpful staff, they were superb. Nice location, about a 20 minute walk from the central train station. Lots of stuff to do and places to eat around here. Pro tip - be sure to visit the bar. Pro tip - if you smoke, including cigars, there is a smoking room in the bar at the top of the steps. The hotel room was hipster and well maintained, although smallish. I recommend staying here.

This hotel was a great base for our visit to Amsterdam. It was walking distance to everything we wanted to do, but enough off the beaten path so it was also quiet and provided a great night's sleep. I loved the view of the canal, and our room was very nice and comfortable. All of the staff were very nice and extremely helpful (whether it was providing directions, making sure our car was valeted and returned timely, ensuring we enjoyed breakfast or evening drinks, or lending us an umbrella the morning it was pouring outside). The only knock I have is that the maids would hold the elevators for 5 minutes at a time to meet their needs, but this wasn't enough to detract from a great stay.

My sister and I stayed at this hotel in late July 2014 and loved it! The staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way to ensure our comfort. On arrival, we were warmly greeted and given an overview of the hotel and Amsterdam, with useful recommendations and a map too! We LOVED the room we stayed in, 229, on the second floor with a lovely canal view and two sections, one with the bed and the other a lovely lofty area with windows looking out onto the canal. The bed was dreamily comfortable and the décor was modern and tasteful. We ended up walking everywhere we went - not only is Amsterdam a small and beautifully walkable city, but the hotel is in a brilliant location, not far from several wonderful areas like the nine streets. Staying at Hotel Sebastian's made me fall in love with Amsterdam and I can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: Both 222 and 229 are excellent, canal view rooms......but 229 is the best! Choose a canal view room...

This hotel is lovely, the staff are very friendly. The staff were always looking for ways to improve our stay. The breakfast was lovely each day. Location is also really good and a very cute area to stay. I could not fault any part of this hotel we were more than impressed with every bit of it. We will defiantly stay here again when we visit Amsterdam next!
