“Charming beautiful quiet area!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2014

Really loved the Museum suites. It was a home away from home. Even though our room was the Mondriaan Suite, which is up 4 flights of steep stairs. ( Everything in Amsterdam is up flights of stairs) I liked how large & very clean the room was, we had a large amount of space in which to spread out. The room had all the modern conveniences of home. And the staff helped us with carrying our luggage up and down stairs when needed.

There was a wonderful coffee maker in which to have morning coffee, and also a refrigerator, which we needed to store our yogurt, because with the time change we woke up too early to have breakfast made for us. We also purchased very tasty croissants at a nearby grocery store to eat in the morning. This lodging is just outside of the inner city of Amsterdam, and a short ride on a trolley to where the action is in Amsterdam. The trolley is a short walk, about 1 block. You can see the stop from Museum suites location.

The owners were very helpful in helping us select things to do and restaurants to try. We were in Amsterdam 4 days, and I wished we were there longer because of the time change we had to take naps the first two days and lost some sightseeing time just trying to adjust. Loved seeing Anne Frank's house, the Van Gough Museum which was close by and our canal rides through Amsterdam. Wonderful city, wonderful food and it was nice how almost everyone also spoke English.

We had some friends join us in Amsterdam for a couple days, and they wanted to stay closer to the inner part of the city. They paid $150 more for their room, which was quite a bit smaller, and not as nice. Although they had great service, I was glad we picked the right choice for us.

Room Tip: If you want to stay at this B & B and have knee issues, you might want to ask for a room in whic...

Excellent hotel for couple. For airport access, we only took a bus and 20 minutes after, arrived in hotel. Staff was very helpful.Everything was spotlessly clean, perfectly maintained, beautifully furnished. Had a nice fireplace and coffee machine (Nespresso)

Our Rembrandt suite was luxuriously spacious as was our private bath. Everything was spotlessly clean, perfectly maintained, beautifully furnished. The building originally had been the home of director of the Rijksmuseum and most recently the private home of the Manshande family that now runs this B&B. The house is in the Museum district which is the upscale part of the city. It is only a few blocks from the shopping street of the Burburries, Gucci's and Diors. It's located in a relatively quiet part of the town not over run by tourists, yet with a good choice of excellent restaurants that cater mostly to the local crowd. The tram stop is just a block away making getting around Amsterdam a breeze.

In addition to the suites, there is also a common room for the use of the guests with a piano in good oprating condition as well as an extensive library of books. The additonal cost breakfast served in this room is generous, fresh and nicely presented. We opted for that and were more than happy we did.

Months before, when making arrangements for this stay, Anne Marie was most helpful with travel suggestions and things to do in Amsterdam. And once we got there, she became the "go-to" for lots of help which we took advantage of liberally One of which is the special relationship that they have with the taxi company Meerlanden which charges about 1/2 of the going rate.

We felt right at home and while staying there, we arranged to have some friends with family from Amsterdam to come over to "our place" for a visit. As this included little kids, without asking, Freda the B&B "mother" baked a special cake for the event. Coffee and refreshments appeared as well without having been asked for. Our departure involved a very early flight that was much too early for the regular breakfast hour. Completely unexpectedly, the night before, a tray arrived at our room with a full breakfast for the next morning. And while we were riding in the taxi to the airport, the Freda called the taxi driver just to make sure we had been picked up and were on our way. Could anyone ask for more?

Vondelpark is our area of choice to stay in Amsterdam. The park is great for running while there are great cafés and restaurants in the neighbourhood. Bagel and Beans for bagels and The Conservatorium Hotel for breakfast, Ron Gastrobar for dinner. Our room was Mondriaan which was on the 3rd floor, bright and spacious. Ideal for two.

Stayed here 1 night while visiting Amsterdam with the boyfriend. I wish we had stayed longer! It had a nice fireplace in a sizeable room with likewise bathroom. Staff was very helpful; we especially appreciated her assistance with getting our luggage (mine very heavy) upstairs. The location was near a metro stop and within walking distance to the big museums hence the name). Highly recommend it.

I had booked the Rembrandt suite many months ago as a surprise romantic trip for my partners birthday.
A week before we were due to stay there the owners contacted me to let me know that major construction works were taking place outside the hotel, and crucially were going to be taking place throughout two of the nights we were due to be there. (Talk about bad luck.) As we had the only street facing suite they offered me the option of cancelling without charge.
I did take them up (somewhat guiltily) on this offer as I really wanted the trip to be special for my partner, and not spoiled by noise and dust.
I wanted to mention this exceptional customer service on Tripadvisor, as it really is very rare these days. On my next visit to Amsterdam I will definitely stay here as I know we will be very well looked after.

A hotel with just three rooms (suites). Great, very personal service. Breakfast is just fabulous (fresh fruit, egg, cheese, smoked meat, salami,... coffee or tee, fruit juice, marmalade, honey, freshly baked buns… The ideal breakfast for people with a good appetite. No restaurant but there are enough restaurants to choose from in the vicinity. There's a nice pub just a few steps away (café De Gruter).
Not in the "city centre" but near the museums but a 24h or 48h tram pass is useful (sold at the hotel).
No elevator though.
If you need a taxi, they will be called by the staff and will arrive within 5 minutes.

Room Tip: Get the van Gogh suite: a beautiful balcony with table, two chairs and a parasol. Ideal for smokers...
