“The taste of Amsterdam”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2012

During the renovation of our Amsterdam apartment, we stayed in this hotel for five days. We had a real good deal through www.venere.com. Four star luxury for the price of a two star hotel. Lucky us! We enjoyed every minute of it and found it very hard to leave. Comfortable rooms, adequate service, lots of energy and a great location. It takes about ten minutes by tram to get into the city centre, but if you are longing for some real local (multicultural) flavour this is your place too! Just around the corner (Wijttenbachstraat 290) you will find the best place to try some food from Surinam: Lalla Rookh. Start with the telo teri (a spicy, spicy, spicy dish with tiny, crispy fish) and order some roti with goat. A little bit further you will find a nice local market: de Dappermarkt. After you’re done shopping do have a coffee at Ludwig (1e van Swindenstraat 547) and head to the Javastraat. Foodies will love this street where Turkish and Moroccan shopowners take pride in selling the best of the best (olives, figues de barbarie, pomegranates, baklava). For a taste of the real Amsterdam get a room at the Manor Hotel!

Lovely clean and comfortable hotel with helpful staff. Very handy for exploring and lovely restaurant. Did order a double bed but had two single beds with single duvets pushed together. Also an unexpected 150 Euro bond to pay on arrival. Would definitely recommend to other travellers however.

Spacious, renovated hotel, with very nice rooms, high ceilings, big windows and free Wi-fi. The bathrooms are clean and comfortable and the furnishing is modern. The hotel is situated in a very convenient location, not far from the city center, near a metro station. The stuff is helpful, but the service is a little bit unpersonal for my taste. As far as the hotels restaurant is concerned, it is supposed to serve italian food, but believe me, there is still a long way for this kitchen to accomplish that claim. Look for bargains and good deals, since the hotel offers many.

Room Tip: Corner rooms have 2 large windows.

Good location, not too far from the center, Easy transport links, Tram stop right outside the hotel. Hotel very clean, friendly staff. Modern funky design to rooms, with a fresh new feel. Would recommend.

We stayed here after securing a good deal whilst at the RAI for an exhibition. It's not in the centre of town but close enought by taxi and team to the RAI and city centre. It's newly refurbished and the rooms are in great condition and modern. The breakfast was fine with a minimal but adequate selection. Everywhere was clean and tidy too. Would definitely return.

Stayed for 3 nights and liked a lot. Clean and spacious room, lovely bathroom. Staff was helpful. Tram 9 was a convenient way of travel.
I would recommend it for the solo travellers as well for the couples. I was in Amsterdam for business, but would like to come back for a little holiday with my husband.

The location of the hotel is very good- just a number 9 tram all the way from Centraal. The hotel itself is very clean and spacious and the staff were very helpful. The rooms have everything you need and it was very clean and modern. My only criticism is the bed was two singles put together so one of us would fall through the gap in the night.

Room Tip: Ask for a proper double bed!
