During the renovation of our Amsterdam apartment, we stayed in this hotel for five days. We had a real good deal through www.venere.com. Four star luxury for the price of a two star hotel. Lucky us! We enjoyed every minute of it and found it very hard to leave. Comfortable rooms, adequate service, lots of energy and a great location. It takes about ten minutes by tram to get into the city centre, but if you are longing for some real local (multicultural) flavour this is your place too! Just around the corner (Wijttenbachstraat 290) you will find the best place to try some food from Surinam: Lalla Rookh. Start with the telo teri (a spicy, spicy, spicy dish with tiny, crispy fish) and order some roti with goat. A little bit further you will find a nice local market: de Dappermarkt. After you’re done shopping do have a coffee at Ludwig (1e van Swindenstraat 547) and head to the Javastraat. Foodies will love this street where Turkish and Moroccan shopowners take pride in selling the best of the best (olives, figues de barbarie, pomegranates, baklava). For a taste of the real Amsterdam get a room at the Manor Hotel!
