We had a balcony room and the views were gorgeous. Balcony rather dirty however that didnt spoil anything. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were nice (although would have prefered a king size bed opposed to two singles pushed together. Nice touch with a few little things free in the minibar in these rooms (two beers, 2 cokes and 2 waters...oh and some snacks too).
Room service was good and food tasty. Great location. First choice for whenever I am back in the Dam

We picked the Doubletree by Hilton for its close proximity to Central Station. Any easy walk even with your suitcases to the railway station. Also close to the Dam in Amsterdam and the shopping area. Try not to check-in around 9am, very busy! Anytime after that & you will walk straight up to the check-in counter. Restaurant on site good, also Starbucks in the same building. Free internet access & Apple Mac in every room. Watch out for the bikes!

Great location for walking tour of Amsterdam and I would probably stay again but te only drawback was the paint bubbling way from the ceiling of my room, whic suggested damp? Great breakfast and the roof top bar was a good location, although only half of it was open due to renovation. I really hope he hotel can retain its top ntch standards but ther are just on or two warning signs that they need to stay on top of the decoration and fabric of this modern hotel.

Great to hear you would select our hotel again in the future. This means a lot to us. You are absolutely right when saying maintenance of the hotel is essential to our success. Unfortunately the room you stayed in faced some recent leakage issues which I'm happy to confirm are fully solved and repaired. We have a team of painters on site who constantly keep all walls and ceilings in shape, some rooms being painted up to 6 times a year.

I regret to read you could not enjoy our SkyLounge to the full potential due to the refurbishment taking place during your stay. Don't hesitate to contact me upon your next visit to Amsterdam and I'll make sure the best spot in the SkyLounge is reserved for you!

Have read the other recent reviews and tend to agree with the positives. Its location (5 minutes walk from Centraal) is indisputable. The views from whichever side are mainly excellent as you have the river at one side and the wide canal to the other. Warm cookies were a nice touch though on arrival it wasn't clear where you check in: obviously (for me) not the roped-off and carpeted Hilton Honors area (which I assume is mandatory but can cause comment when the other staff are busy and that desk is empty). Perhaps a sign saying "check in" as I and at least one other guest (when I was present) went to the "guest services" desk first.

Having said this, there were plenty of staff at front and check out was first class service.

Room was excellent overall. Though in my room you had to have very very long arms to reach the shower gel from the bath/ shower and the drawers in the wardrobe wouldn't open unless we moved the ironing board. Picky, I know so still excellent.

Oh, and six lifts! Which all work and were fast.

Overall, well-recommended. :)

We stayed at this hotel after disembarking from a river cruise. It has a fantastic location as it is a short walk from where most river cruises disembark and from Amsterdam's central train station. As we were travelling to Paris by train the next day, the location was perfect! We arrived at 9:30 in the morning and the hotel was excellent in offering us a room that was available immediately. Although the halls are rather plain, the room was great with lots of storage, free wifi, a desktop computer, ironing board and large bathroom. There is a Starbucks in the hotel and we enjoyed the light dinner we had in the hotel bar. As well, the Skylounge is a great place to have a drink and enjoy a great view of Amsterdam!

Stayed in August and a great location within walking distance of station and old town. The restaurant excellent and brilliant breakfast with hot and cold choices to set you up for the day. Rooms clean compact and clean but lacked some colour. The sky lounge great view but did not really feel welcomed as hotel guest - looking for somewhere to sit staff quickly told us the table we went to sit as reserved and left to look elsewhere with any assistance. hence did not go back.
Found a great little Italian restaurant Cafe Piazza, Kloveniersburgwal, with good food and friendly staff.

Our SkyLounge should be a home away from home for our hotel guests, even though it's also a very popular hotspot within the city. Stayed here for the first part of our honeymoon, having visited Amsterdam many times we wanted to stay in a nicer hotel and we found the doubletree on trip advisor.

The hotel is very close to the station, and has some great facilities within the hotel, including a starbucks and sky lounge. The room was compact but clean, we had a balcony room overlooking the city, noise was minimal.

Service was very good, room service was prompt, staff were helpful and every staff member would great you and say hello.

We had a small problem with the table in our room which was rectified before we had even got back to the room!

The food in the restaurant was very nice, price wise it was a little on the dearer side as you would expect but not ridiculous. the service in the restaurant was very good apart from one evening where it slipped a little (slow to clear the table and take our desert order, and took a long time for the bill) but to be honest i think that this was only highlighted as the service had been so amazing the previous nights.

Breakfast was brilliant, i cant think of anything else that someone would want for breakfast that was not available, they even had a nice local selection such as pancakes and chicken soup!

There were a number of functions on while we were there, none of which seemed to impact our stay too much at all.

Overall we had a great stay and would definitely stay again (budget permitting!) i would say that a room overlooking the city is a good idea due to the location next to the railway, and expect to pay a little more for some things, but we felt we had good value with the added extras such as posh shampoos, and complimentary minibar.

The only disappointment we had was that i wanted to buy my wife some cookies to take home with us, and they didn't have any ready as it was only 9.00 in the morning, still you cant have everything!
