“THE BEST CHOICE, THE BEST STAY”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2012

- At our arrival, they gave us warm cookies which was really nice.
- Very friendly stuff; they had special ones to explain guests all the routes, things to visit and good recomendations of restaurants and other services; everything according to our likes (specially Salvador).
- Breakfast so so so so so good; if you find it included in your deal it's really amazing, otherwise, it would be a little bit expensive. Nice amount of juices, breads, sausages, eggs, potatoes, bacon, little crêpes, mushrooms, yogurths, croissants, salmon, little chocolate things typical from the Netherlands; between so many others.
- The bedroom was very clean, comfortable, well-decorated and full provided of anything you may need ranging from Listerine and little teeth-brushes to tea machine, sweets, iron and many amenities. BUT, THE ONLY FACT I DIDN'T LIKE: they have no hairdryer, which is really unbelievable in a 4* hotel; and maybe, the bed wasn't big enough even though it was really comfortable (with two different kind of pillows).
- It was a perfect detail to give guests free wifi for the iMacs in everybedroom and the good disposition for everything (for example: printing. We needed to print something fastly and in 2 seconds a staff brought it to our bedroom).
- THE BEST FACT: the situation. It is something wonderful to go out from Central Train Station after a long and tired travel and have the hotel in less than 5 minutes by walk on your left. The Old Amsterdam streets and Red Light district is just on the other side of the bridge (3 minutes) and you have lots of restaurants, coffes, fast-food places and so on.
- We still can't believe how lucky we were as we found an unbelievably offer which gave us breakfast and bed for 85 euros with Logitravel; this means, if you find a good offer it will be perfect if not, I hardly recommend to pay for the Doubletree by Hilton becouse it has all you are searching for when it comes to travel.

FROM 1 TO 10, I WOULD GIVE THIS HOTEL AND HOW WONDERFUL IT MADE OUR STAY A 11!

Me and my partner stayed here 1st weekend of Jan 2012. Hotel is ideally situated just a short walk from the train station (to the left). Had difficulty checking in as our booking was not recognised (booked through Easy Jet), however, a room was found for us. The clerk checking us in I found quite difficult and we were not greeted the same as other guests upon checking in... more later! Our room was a good size but upon opening the curtains we found that our "window" looked out onto a brick wall and to add to this we had a disabled bathroom / wet room and the TV / PC would not play CD's. We went for some fresh air after having travelled for a few hours via train / plane etc. and then decided to ask for a room change at reception. The clerk at reception second time around could not have been more helpful. She apologised for the way that we were treated originally and changed our room and gave us a fresh warm cookie (all other guests checking in at the same time of us previously were given these but we originally were not), which was a nice small gesture. Thsi time our room overlooked the canal to the South and was much more pleasing to the eye. We enjoyed a drink in the SkyLounge and is great of an evening. We only dined once in the downstairs restaurant and would not dine there again, although nice layout etc. it was highly priced and the meat that my partner had as part of her meal that evening (wild boar) contained a shot pellet! We never complained at the time although in hindsight i wish we had. (I still have the pellet as a momento!). If you want a smart city hotel, this could well do the job for you, restaurant and checking in aside.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the canals not the railway.

Lovely comfortable hotel, friendly staff. good quality beds and bed linen towels etc.

The only downside is the noise from the trains, however I think if you had a forward facing room you may not have this.

My shower door did not close, I reported this to reception who said they would send someone up, after 25 minutes no one had arrived so I had to have a quick wash and leave as I had arrangements to go out.. I was surprised when the following morning I found it had not been fixed. I telephoned reception again and told them I was very disappointed, they sent someone immediately who was able to fix it, he could not apologize enough. Later that day they sent up some water and fruit as a an apology.

The bar at the top of this hotel offers great views of the city.

We ate in the restaurant one night the food was okay but not a great deal of choice and portions quite small.

Room Tip: Get a forward facing room to avoid the train noise.

The Amsterdam Mint has recently been converted to The Doubletree Amsterdam. The problem with the DT brand in the Hilton portfolio is that you never know what to expect. It´s one of the most inconsistent hotel chains ranging from fabulous to dreadful. Luckily DT Amsterdam falls in the better category. The hotel is a three minute walk from the airport shuttle train and has a wonderful view overlooking the city. Breakfast is above DT general standard and the bar on the 11th floor is absolutely worth a visit. Since it´s recently converted not all the features, don´t worry they have the cookies, might be available yet and some MINT features like the cool Mac computer in the room is still there. I would stay again and will highly recommend the hotel.

Nice new hotel right beside Amsterdam Centraal Station, no need to drag your suitcase a long way if traveling in and out by train. if you want peace and quiet in the night this is the place for you. Room is clean and bright! The staff are friendly and willing to help. Of course...love the warm choc chip cookie!

We found the Doubletree to be a very nice, modern hotel and a great place to stay while burning off the jetlag for a couple of days.Although we were hoping for some immediate European charm which can only be had at old established properties this hotel welcomed us to Europe in such a way as to spoil us (almost)for the rest of the trip. The rooms were brand new with a Mac computer and free internet. The bed was great and we had an awesome view of the city over the water. When we arrived we were offered two huge freshly baked chocolate chip cookies which was strange but welcome.Sherry hit the sheets right away and I went to check out the sights in my overly ambitious way and stumbled upon the red light district immediately as it is just a hop skip and a jump away. That was an eye opener!!I scurried back to our room and lo and behold my precious was sound asleep in bed.We ventured out and everything was close at hand to see ,so a very convenient location indeed. The breakfast buffet was a huge surprise as it was probably the best one we indulged in on our three week tour.We would recommend this clean well appointed hotel to anyone wanting a modern oasis in a great fun city!!

Room Tip: View of the city centre away from the tracks seemed to work for us.The entrance is poorly located so...

Good facilities, nice room, friendly staff - loved the sky bar.
Shame about the noise from the trains.

Room Tip: We were in room 1103 on the 11th floor overlooking the train tracks and found them quite noisy.
