Just checked in less than 1 hour ago. Check in was very quick with no delays. As I've stayed in several of Amsterdams 5 star hotels I was not sure what to expect here but let me assure you if first impressions count this hotel will be a pleasure. I got a spacious room on 10th floor overlooking the City. The room also has a large balcony, yes a real balcony that you could have a party on.
The room has everything I need. Its clean, bright and airy as well as having all the usual things you expect. Thankfully the safe is large enough for a large laptop (you wouldn't believe the amount of hotels I've stayed in that cant fit a laptop in the safe). Nice touch is a tooth brush and razor already in the room..(usually have to call room service for these).
IMac TV is fine, but personally I prefer a larger screen...but for those of you who dont want to bring a laptop/ipad it also doubles up as a Mac computer...handy for browsing. Yes WiFi is also in the bedroom and so far its speed seems reasonable (I can use it for Netflix so connection speed is very good)
Bed is perfect , nice white linen but the real bonus is that because the balcony has a full glass door I can lay down in bed and still see out to skyline and rooftops of Amsterdam.
Bathroom is what you would expect for this quality standard of hotel, no bath though..I havent tried the shower yet.
Hotel location is fine, (just across from the Amrath where I've stayed serveral times and always get a great room, and also close to NH Barbizon which is another decent Hotel). Ive stayed in the Krasnapolsky several times also which is in a better city center location but there the rooms are hit and miss). But the distance from Doubleetree to Dam Square is 5 minutes or a 10 minute tourist stroll.
