I stayed here after a brutal week of business travel in the south of Holland, this hotel was a wonderful surprise. My company booked me here on very short notice, and I got a 5th floor room that was flooded in sunlight and had a panoramic view of the Amsterdam skyline (#501). The decor is subdued and comfortable, and the deco style (with many original details) of the building is great and different in teh middle of all the 17th century architecture. It's also the best-smelling bathroom I have ever experienced in a hotel- fresh and kind of citrussy (Not usually something you think about in a hotel but it was really noticeable here).

Breakfast was decent, with a discount if you requested it on check-in. The homemade bread full of seeds was particularly good, and the yogurt-type stuff for fruit was great too.

The place was very clean, comfortable, and I had no problems with noise. The ONLY caveat I would mention is that I had a non-smoking room but there was a smoking place just one meter outside the door, so sometimes it seeped through under the door. Otherwise I loved it and would definitely stay there again if I went back. Also, the airport shuttle was a great worry-free way to get home.

Fulfilled all our requirements, clean, friendly and extremely central. Wished they could have made the weather warmer though but still a wonderful weekend.

Stayed here for TEN DAYS!! (longest ever in one hotel room) in late November-early December while attending a conference. As we learned our way around Amsterdam, it turned out the hotel was situated perfectly. Right in the heart of the city, an easy walk to most of the places you want to go. Our room overlooked the Singel canal (better option than overlooking the noisy street) and there is a restaurant in the hotel with a happy hour and not bad food for those days when you are too tired from dodging cyclists to go out to eat. Don't get confused with similarly named NH Amsterdam Centre, which is more expensive and a bit nicer, but doesn't have the location. We really loved Amsterdam and when we go back, we'll stay here again. Check out 'tZwaantje restaurant just across the canal - great ribs, good price, terrific staff.

I stayed here for 2 nights for a friends 30th birthday in November 2005. Excellent service - our bags were bought up to our modern, very clean rooms without prompting. Reception staff were fantastic - even giving us a local map highlighting various points of interest we wanted to visit. Was able to walk everywhere or easily jump on a tram making everything accessible. Also easy to get a cab to and from the airport for transfers. Lovely hotel - great service.
