“Perfect For The Last Minute”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2009

Booked in here for one night for two people for 125 Euros last minute when we arrived after a disaster with another hotel (see previous reviews). Very friendly helpful staff!

We were allocated a double room which was rather spacious for the price, tea and coffee making facilities and excellent bathroom facilities. The hotel is quiet at night so we got a restful night’s sleep.

Easy check in and easy check out! Great location for everything in Amsterdam and wouldn’t hesitate to stop here again when I plan to explore Amsterdam more. I can’t fault my stay here, it was a good night!

This is an excellent hotel, within walking distance to all city centre attractions..... It is also beside a tram stop, that will bring you right up to the main train station. The rooms are very small and pokey but once you get over that, its clean and comfortable.

I have just returned from a visit to Amsterdam. We stayed at the NH City Centre hotel. It was excellent. Its location is its main plus. You're right in the middle and so everything is quite close and certainly walkable. The room we had was large and light and overlooked the street. The bathroom was adequate with a good shower. I had tried to request a canal view but they don't have any twin rooms overlooking the canal unfortunately. The only downside was that the room was quite hot. and with only a small window it wasn't that easy to cool it down again. The tea and coffee making facilities were a bonus especially as the weak pound made everything very expensive. We didn't take breakfast at the hotel as it was 18 euros each which is too much - however nice the food is. The cafe that has been recommended elsewhere on the reviews of this hotel was excellent and there looked to be an amazing bakery just by the entrance to the hotel and we'd have tried it had we not been concerned for our figures!!

Whatever you do if you're going to Amsterdam look in to buying tickets for all the major museums in advance. We booked Anne Frank House on the internet and whilst everyone else had a good few hours wait we walked straight in at the allotted time - and the same for the Van Gogh museum. There were other museums we didn't go to that also had queues.

I would also recommend if you're planning on seeing a lot in Amsterdam that you look in to getting an I AMsterdam card (you can look it up on the internet). You pay 48 euros each for a 48 hour period and then get free entrance to museums and discounts in restaurants etc. We worked out that between us we spent 96 euros on the card but in total saved 260 euros so a net saving of 164 euros. As Amsterdam is such an expensive place this was a welcome saving!

Lastly I must recomment Pasta e Basta restautant. It really was one of the best restaurants I have been to. The food was excellent but it was the singing waiters that made it so brilliant. It sounds cheesy but really it wasn't. I'd urge everyone to go (and you get 25% off with the Iamsterdam card!

It is first time I visited Amsterdam. It is really wheelchair friendly city. I like this city very much. I stayed at NH City Centre Hotel on this time. The hotel is quite old but is comfortable. It is not so clean that I expect but acceptable. The room is big enough for wheelchair people and the toilet is good too. Just one thing I don't like so much that is the entrance of the hotel. If you need to sit on wheelchair, you should use the side entrance to enter the hotel because there are 13 stairs in the front entrance. The lift for the wheelchair people is very slowly to move up and down.

Other than hotel, Amsterdam is really great city that I couldn’t image. I visited so many places by tram. Except the Anne frank house, nearly I can enter all museums around Amsterdam. And I also visited Keukenhof, it is very impressive. Much different kind of flowers is showed there. Of course the main flowers are tulips. And one thing I feel very impressive that is all of Dutch know speaking English.

Overall, I strongly recommend you should visit this city if you want to have a travel. No matter you are handicap of not!

Nicely decorated hotel and in great location, between Dam Square and Leidseplein. Changed rooms as the first was opposite a lift, the second had no bath, only a shower, and the third had no view but really did not want to change again. The first receptionist was not too happy about us changing rooms, although we were not told about the shower before we went up to it. Breakfast was not included and I felt the rates were high enough to warrant an included breakfast (too expensive to buy!)

Stayed at the NH City Centre while over for the Netherlands v Scotland game.
Hotel is everything you'd expect, clean, modern and with good service.
Beds were good, water was hot.

Location is the best thing about it. 2 minutes walk from Dam Square and 10 minutes walk from Centraal Station.
If you're a beer drinker there's also the fantstic Cafe Gollem in the alley between Spuistraat and Singel, to the left hand side of the hotel if coming out of the front door.

You could probably find hotels with more character in Amsterdam, than this one, but this is definately a good, modern option.
