“Great long weekend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2014

We spent 3 nights in this hotel (Fri-Mon). For the price we paid, this hotel was far more than satisfactory. The room itself wasn't huge but had everything we needed and was very comfortable, we didn't spend much time in the room as we came in late at night and left pretty early in the mornings and it suited our needs perfectly.
The beds were fine for us, we're used to it travelling in Europe - two twins pushed together with separate bedding.

The bathroom was clean, spacious, modern and well lit - what more do you need?

The best thing about this hotel was probably the breakfast! It came included in the price of our stay so we wasn't expecting much so we were delighted with what we found. Buffet style with all sorts of options; English style cooked breakfast, breads, croissants, pastries, fruit, yogurts, seeds, cereal, nuts and much more. There's also a great coffee machine with the handy option of takeaway cups.

The location was ideal for us - set back down a quiet canal street just a short walk from Dam Square. There's a tram station just a minutes walk from the hotel.

I would definitely stay here again next time i'm in Amsterdam.

Hotel staff were always friendly and welcoming.

We prepaid through expedia and it definitely affects the hotel's room selection. Not the room or view we've had in past when booked directly with NH hotels. Great location for seeing center city and casa David restaurant. Also tried Tomaz a small Dutch restaurant close by - very good. Two twins pushed together a pain. Breakfast good but not cheap and free wifi.

In general we were happy with the hotel (quality and location) but check-in procedure was really not so pleasant as it should be. The staff of the restaurant was extremely friendly and the Breakfast buffet is very good.

We went to Amsterdam for a long weekend with friends and jut wanted good base hotel. The NH City Centre met all requirements so we booked. They arranged for a late check as we had an evening flight. The room was a decent size for two of us, you wouldn't need much more space unless you intend to spend your day in there. Bathroom was relatively modern and the beds comfortable. The only thing was the housekeeping, the room was clean but we were missing hand towels & a bath mat. The mini bar also hadn't been restocked, which wasn't really an issue as we never buy from them but it was added onto our bill upon check out. In saying this, when we mentioned it wasn't full when we checked in, they didn't even question us and took the charges off the bill. I had taken a photo on the first night with a date stamp, just in case there was an issue but the girl on the desk didn't question us at all. All the staff we encountered were friendly & helpful. I would recommend this hotel to friends who are looking for a central location and nothing super fancy.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper then a room on the canal side might be a bit quieter. In saying that we w...

We stayed at this property for 3 nights as a family(2 adults and a 6 year old child).
The check-in was smooth, staff were kind and helpful with information about trams and nearby places.
The room was big, clean, nice with a huge bed, which was really comfortable and we slept like babies.
We had an extra bed too which we did not have to use!
We did not hear any noise from nearby rooms and we had the perfect sleep. There was tea/coffee making facilities in the room and they were happy to refill them.
Extra pillow and big towels were provided.
The towels were clean smelling even though it looked a bit old.
The bathroom looked a bit old too, though plenty of tissues were provided.
It would be really nice if the hotel could upgrade the soap, shampoo and lotion.
Super breakfast-lot of bread,croissants,different juices,sausages,bacon,mushrooms,eggs boiled and scrambled,coffee espresso,cappuccino etc.
Tram stop is just a street away.Central station and Damrak is 15-20 minutes walk away.
A tram to the zoo took only 6 minutes from the next street.
The back side of the hotel is facing the canal and is beautiful.
All in all we had a good stay.It was high season and it was apparently quite full.
Thank you to all the wonderful staff.

Room Tip: Our room was on the fifth floor and was very quiet.

We arrived and were offered an "upgrade" to a canal room for 10 Euros extra a day. Not worth it. Room no larger and we weren't in the room during the day to appreciate the view.
Bathroom new, modern and very good. Room far too crowded with 2 chairs (neither of which slid under the desk). No-where for empty suitcases (not even a high shelf) and mattress needed replacing.
Housekeeping a disaster - very sloppy (ice bucket not emptied of water, ash tray emptied but not cleaned) - and if, like we were, you are in your room all morning (late night...) then your room doesn't get cleaned at all!
They need to relook at the policy of a 3:00 pm check in, enough people check out at 10:00 am (or earlier) for them to be able to turn these rooms around if they planned this correctly.
Staff very helpful and location great!
No décor on the corridors leading to the rooms (no pictures, no furniture), it was like being in a hostel!
Ice on 2nd floor a great help, but please fill up the vending machines!
