“Ok staying but will pick another NH hotel next time”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2012

We checked in this hotel yesterday, 2 weeks ago we stayed at NH Amsterdam Center Hotel.
Comparing the two, this NH although has a more "city center" location but is older, smaller room, and I feel the service is slightly slower.

Room in odd shape (maybe it is just the one we are in), so there are TV table and cupboard sticking out here and there.

Bathroom - Like the standing shower but if you are not slim, might be a squeeze into the shower stall. Toilet bowl is the old skool Dutch style, not my favourite (!), Mirror has no anti fog like the other NH i stayed in, no shower cap, minimum amenities.

No iron in the room. Have to go certain floor with iron room.

Heating position in both NH hotels are weird, they are behind the very thick curtain, not sure how this works in the very cold winter.

Hotel is not bad but I think could be better. Unless there is a reason I need to be closer to this part of the city, i would prefer to go to NH Amsterdam Centre.

Great money for value. Very helpful staff. Clean and modern rooms, clean and comfortable linen. Buffet breakfast was awesome! I couldn't get enough!

Centrally located and well worth the stay.

I will absolutely stay here again! :)

Our group of 31 spent three nights here last week. While the hotel looks a bit worn from the outside and has a rather dated lobby area, it is very clean and the rooms are comfortable and well appointed. The availability of in-room coffee makers plus the free coffee, tea and water available in the lobby during the morning hours were wonderful and most appreciated amenities. The location is perfect for touring all of the most important sights in Amsterdam, and we did not need to take public transportation at all. Everything was accessible on foot. The neighborhood is nice with a number of good bars, cafe's and even some excellent breakfast locations. The personnel at the front desk were very cordial and helpful as well. I recommend this hotel without hesitation.

Nothing to complain about this hotel. It fells right in the average of a four star hotel in a city like Amsterdam. Comfortably close to the center, nice clean and accessorized rooms, good breakfast, good bar service, free internet in the lobby, good staff
On the other hand you have to pay extra for: internet in your room (it is 2012, please update!) and gym access. Maybe these things make up for the slightly lower price for the area. One other thing is that to check-in and out it takes a some minutes of waiting in line .... but not a disaster

Stayed here on a business trip for 2 nights, very pleasant.

Pros: Excellent breakfast choice, very queit on all floors, very helpful staff, free wifi (in lobby), room was spacious (room 346), comfy beds, excellent shower, very clean, location is great, walk out of front entrance and turn right, walk 2 minutes and your at a lovely little square with a book market and bars, cafes etc...

Cons: Very limited wifi in rooms, free in lobby is ok, but I thought it might have been free all over, considering Amsterdam is basically a wireless city now, even in "high end" hotels.

Room Tip: I was on 3rd floor, VERY queit.
