“Priceline Bargain, Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2011

Bagged this hotel through Priceline for about £50 a night for a twin room. Although a bit away from the centre, the hotel is located right next to Vondel Park, and the Van Gogh and Riksmuseum . The area is great for finding places to eat, shops and for pottering about, seeing the sights. Amsterdam city centre really isn't that big and walking in from the Hotel to the Train Station took only about 20 mins.
I would recommend asking for a room on the upper floors, as it is quieter and there is a better view. We were lucky enough to get a little outside balcony area too. The room and bathroom was immaculate. The room itself was large, the air con worked well and the black-out curtains made it a little too easy to sleep in.

My only complaints would be; the bed wasn't firm enough for me, and i ended up with a sore back from having slept sunk into the mattress.
I was disappointed there was no UHT milk in the in-room drinks supply- Creamer just isn't the same in a cuppa.
I'm not sure if they were training up new staff or what, but at reception it took AGES for anyone to serve us. We waited about 15-20mins at the desk waiting to check in. The check in desk wasn't busy either, it was just us and two American gentlemen who were served before us, despite coming up to the desk about 5 mins after we'd started waiting.

All in all for the price we paid- an absolute bargain! When i go back, i'd be more than happy to stay here again.

Room Tip: Upper floor. Twin room.

if you want location, this is the place. 3 min walk to Leidseplein, which is filled with restaurants and bars.

Downside: rooms are tiny and mattress is too soft. They offer free wi fi at the lobby, but its so slow that's not usable. If you need wi fi there you should head to a nearby Starbucks.

Got it from Priceline. Terrific deal.

If you love AMS you will be happy staying here. It stinks of weed. I think its a great place for 20-30yr old people looking to party. Just my opinion.

I stay in this hotel in the end of october 2011. The location is really good, but this is only good thing about this hotel. The room is tiny and very old. I think it is too expensive for such an old hotel. Breakfast is also quite expensive, for 19 euro you could find much better breakfast in all cafes around. On my last day the elevator was out of order and I needed to go downstair with heavy luggages by foot. And last and the most terrible experience form this hotel, that when I tried to check out they realised that they don't accept visa electron cards, but they took it as a garantee and never mentioned that, Moreover they reject to give me a recipoe that transaction is unsuccessfull, hope that my money is still on my cards. At last in a hurry to my flight I needed to go thorugh all city center to find ATM(but daily limit to withdraw is only 250 eur in Amsterdam, be aware of that, so I neededd to withdraw money from all my 3 plastic card to get enough cash). There are many hotels with a better location and price around the city center. Don't choose NH city centre, it doesn't worth this price. Definitely, will never stay in this hotel and will not suggest it to anybody.

Room Tip: Choose the double room with to single beds, because a room with a double bed is very tiny.

This hotel is about a 20min walk from Amsterdam Centre Station. It is on the edge of the centre of Amsterdam away from the red light district. However this hasn't stopped a few 'red light' windows from setting up in Spuistraat near the station end of the street. Walking from the hotel there are a few buildings covered in graffiti - but don't let this put you off! The hotel is nearer the shops end of the street. The staff were extremely polite and helpful. Our room was on the second floor and was a basic double. It was a compact, clean room with a double bed, wardrobe, coffee making facilities, tv (which had BBC 1 and 2!), desk and a bathroom with a shower. There was a fridge in the room with water in - at an extra charge - we didn't drink it! Our room looked out over the Singel canal. We were away from the main night life but you could occasionally hear rowdiness! Nothing a pair of earplugs didn't sort out. Other hotel guests could be noisy - as with anywhere - the doors don't shut quietly!! None of this however spoilt our stay. There is free wifi at this hotel, only to be used in the lobby. You gain a username and password from a piece of paper in the lobby and get 30 free mins per login. Enough if you want to just quickly check your e-mails or update your Facebook status!! For any longer than that - you will have to pay (or keep adding in free 30min codes!) - but you are on holiday - get out and about!! I would stay here again as it was reasonably central for everything you will want to visit. There is a good tram network but we found that everything was in walking distance - furthest thing we went to was the Heineken Experience - a 30 min walk. Check out is midday but we were able to check out in the morning, leave our luggage in a secure room at the hotel and come back and collect it later in the day. We enjoyed our stay here and would definitely use it again if we come back.

A very good hotel on the edge of the centre of Amsterdam. A perfect place to stay and to explore the innercity of Amsterdam. Very good rooms, good service and a very good Italian restaurant!

We loved the location and the staff the room was a bit noisy but after bringing this to receptions attention we were moved immediately to a quite room. This is our second return to this hotel and we will be back if ever in Amsterdam again. The location was great and the staff where very knowledgeable.
