The highlight for me at this museum was the vessel "Amsterdam",which is kept very "ship-shape".
As there were lots of people on holiday, the museum was extremely busy,so there was a permanent queue for the resteraunt area.
The building itself is divided into North,South,East and West, some of which are basically empty, but there are areas with navigational instruments (sextants, octants, compasses etc),also sailing ship figureheads, and many outstanding paintings.
As the museum is only about half hour walk from the city centre,it's an ok walk there and back, with the floating Chinese Resteraunt and Nemo to pass on your way there.
This museum will cost 15 Euros each, and you will be given a plan detailing the entire building before setting off.
