I was very surprised as I walked in the hotel to find that the design is strikingly bold but elegant. The facade of the hotel was very ordinary, but everything else was superb. The location was strategic and ideal for international travellers who want to explore the city of Amsterdam by foot. Situated in a very trendy area, plenty of high quality shops and boutique, with canals scene just a few steps from the hotel. Our room was on the top floor and we didn't choose the Canal view room, but we were very happy with the service and the hotel overall. We were on the top floor and we could see the sky and the hotel courtyard, and the beautiful character of Dutch roof. The bathroom was brilliant. I find the heater was a bit overwhelming, but other than that, staying at the Dylan was very memorable. We stayed there for 3 nights.

The location is GREAT - easy to walk EVERYWHERE from here. Beautiful historic building. Large, modern, clean rooms (ask for a pillow-top to be put in your mattress, though) very nice staff. Free wifi.
Only downside is the bar is a bit lame, but there are tons of other great ones on the same block!

Fabulous hotel. The courtyard is amazing. The rooms luxurious. The service impeccable. The place is very expensive but if you want to spoil yourself, this is the place to go. The breakfast was great. We skipped the dinner at the Michelin starred restaurant. Bikes in front of hotel.

We stayed at the Dylan in October 2012. We had a superior room on the 2nd floor overlooking the courtyard, it was comfortable with a good sized bath and shower. As the hotel is set back from the canal it is very quiet and the only noise in the hotel was from fellow guests on the wooden floors. The staff were attentive, friendly and helped us with anything we asked. The main restaurant is excellent, quiet adventurous food, we had a celery desert! I haven't given the hotel 5 stars as breakfast was ordinary and expensive and the rooms could be a bit bigger for the price, although very difficult in amsterdam. The location cannot be faulted so a great choice if like us you want to explore by foot.

We stayed for a night at this hotel at the end of our vacation, before flying home the next day. It's in a really great location - close to the "9 streets" with boutique shopping and little cafes and restaurants, and close to the city center. Several outdoor cafes are really close but away from the busy areas. We had a charming room right under the rafters, with plenty of space for a rollaway for our daughter. Breakfast had a great selection of food. We'd love to stay here again next time we're spending time in or passing through Amsterdam.

Beautiful boutique hotel in a quiet neighborhood. Rooms were beautifully styled with lush amenities. Great for a romantic getaway. They could use a little bit friendlier front desk/ concierge. Not the service we are used to at a 5 star property. The restaurant Vinkeles was amazing! Great food ,wines and service! Overall, a very nice stay.
