“Beautiful walk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2014

We visited in May, lovely weather so more conducive to walking around & exploring! This is a beautiful canal, cafes & restaurants and some small museums (Tulip and Cheese, both of which are worth a short visit) and of course, Anne Frank House. Lots of the canal tours stop off here, we had a nice glass of wine from the bar just next to AFH sitting on the tables on the canal-side. Beautiful buildings.

“A beautiful walk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2014

This is a beautiful area to walk around. Plus it is free. This is reminiscent of Amsterdam and give this place it's beauty and character.

“Stayed here an a houseboat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2014

Lovely area of Amsterdam, lots of bars and places to eat. There was a great market on Saturday which had everything from fruit and fish to secondhand and new clothes! Was noisy at night when we were on the boat but worth a walk if nr by

“Amsterdam canals”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2014

This a nice place to walk. The Ann Frank house is in this neighborhood. There are century old buildings along side of new construction. The newer buildings blend in very well.

“Relax Time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2014

One of the best things you must do when visiting Amsterdam is taking a walk or even a boat tour by the canals.

Don't expect smelly or polluted water: all the city canals have their water cleaned every three days! Quite impressive! You could even swim on it, but it is not allowed.

It's very interesting to notice the way of life of the near-by residents of the Amsterdam canals. They simply sit by the canal, chat a little, some have their boats for a ride, others even do barbecue on the boat with their friends! So different from the busy city center (Dam).

And, of course, bicicles everywhere. It's Netherland, after all.

Prinsengracht is one of the famous canals from Amsterdam. You will find there the tradicional houses architecture and bridges. It's a good idea to do the boat tour. You will have access to a lot of information about the canals and the city.

Enjoy it!
