Owner description: In the heart of Amsterdam's bustling centre lies one of the city's oldest museums: Our Lord in the Attic. Here visitors get to experience the Dutch Golden Age in a special way: a 17th-century house with a top floor converted into a Catholic church.

Well worth a visit - have never seen anything like this anywhere. Beautifully restored and very interesting commentary. Included with the Holland Pass.

“amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2014

right in the middle of the red light area, this museum is well worth a visit. Three merchant buildings combined to create a chapel on the top three floors. the chapel is now restored and although building works continue you can also see the original merchants room as well.
audio tour is one of best I have seen and very informative of this buildings history and that of the catholic community

“Amazing museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2014

You will be awed at how worshipers at that time were able to keep this church/ chapel a secret. Tucked beneath this seemingly small house is a church. The layout is great and thy were able to preserve it so we can see it. Highly recommended!

“Unique!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2014

We planned to visit the museum early in our long weekend stay in Amsterdam just before Christmas. The visit was first class and well worth the time. Fascinating story behind its development, beautiful decorations and stunning views over the surrounding canal and area. Well worth including in your itinerary.

“Wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2013

Amstelkring is an oasis in this seedy city!! I don't think I can add much to the glowing reviews.

Well worth a visit. There is a fair amount of renovation going on at the moment but it didn't detract from the interest and peace of this unique museum.
