Fantastic museum of Amsterdam's history. Lots and lots of exhibits laid out in an interesting manner. There is so much to see (and I guess a lot of history to cover). There is even a bicycle with a large basket that you can ride (it's fixed to the ground though), and a carillon of organ bells - I'm not sure what the correct terminology is - to play, sitting in an attic-like room hearing the notes booming out around you. Aside from the interactive exhibits there are also paintings, sculptures, artifacts...all with excellent explanations in English.
It was fairly empty when we went in December and I think we browsed for three hours. Left feeling like we had learnt a lot of things but also were entertained! We weren't particularly interested in Amsterdam's history before we went but the museum certainly succeeded in holding our attention.
