We went to this restaurant which was recommended in a Rick Steve's guidebook. The restaurant was right on the canal and we enjoyed the sightseeing of canal boats and people watching. The food was very nicely prepared and reasonable in price. We each had ham and cheese sandwiches, with Americano Caffe, and quaint little desserts. The service was enjoyable and they did not rush us. The Jordaan district is the most fashionable to walk around. It is very safe and in stark contrast to the Red Light district which we did not enjoy (too many zonked out people in that area). If you are in Amsterdam, take a tram to the middle of Jordaan area and just let your feet and whims be the guide. Hidden surprises await you. We also walked right by the Anne Frank House and the Church where Rembrandt was buried.
