“3 star- not a 5 star hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012

It’s more like a 3 star hotel.
My husband and I stayed there in September for 5 days. We came to Amsterdam from a satisfying stay at 4 star NH hotel in Ghent. We hoped that Amsterdam 5 star NH hotel will be better, but we were disappointed.

Hotel staff told us that because of renovation, there’s no sauna and gym in the hotel. This was not mentioned on the hotel’s web site. Our room had old small screen TV and old furniture. Beds were terrible. Pillows- artificial and very bad- they replaced them with somewhat better.

Closet door was not easy to open, so we kept the sliding closet door open. There were no drawers in the room and we needed to keep most of our clothes in the suit case or put on chairs.

When we complaint about the room, the manager promised to find another room in the morning, but morning manager said that it was a lie and there are no rooms available. In exactly these words !!!

Bathroom had only one sink, no separate shower and a narrow bath tab, where it was very uncomfortable to take shower. Room had no slippers and one over-sized bath robe. They delivered slippers after our request.

Business center had only one PC (!!!), which turned off every 15 minutes. Hotel’s location is very good, we have to admit.

We do not recommend to stay there.

I stayed at Nh Barbizon for 2 nights.
I've paid almost 300€ for 2 nights without breakfast.

At least I thought the Hotel had Gym and free wi-fi, and the location was good (whish it is indeed).

I choose a room with view, big mistake since is do noisy that is impossible to sleep.
The wi-fi was so slow I couldn't even use the skype or donwload my work emails.
The Gym was closed for renovation and none bother to inform me.

I don't recommend this hotel, unless the rate is much lower, besides the rooms are not 5 stars, they are 4 at most.

Room Tip: Choose a high floor if you want to rest

After readind a number of reviews I was cautious about staying here. However, you cannot fault the location as it is extremely central and 2 minutes from the train station. The hotel rooms may need decorated soon but the room was very large and was perfect for what we needed. The room was very quiet and the staff were helpful and polite.

I would stay again especially as it was much cheaper than many other places!!

Really enjoyed staying here, larger room than a lot of the hotels. It is convenient and close to everything. Only a five minutes walk from train station and less than a fifteen minute walk to lots of cafes and bars and coffee shops. Love it , hope to stay there again!!!!

Room Tip: just try to get at least a double bed or bigger, though be prepared lot of the king beds are two twi...

My Brother and I stayed 2 nights at this hotel in September (2012) Friday and Saturday nights. Our room was quiet despite the fact the hotel is in the center of everything. The room is quite dated in its furnishings but clean. All the staff were extremely polite and helpful. Free breakfast, free wifi throughout, and the price was very reasonable. The location is so convenient, close to everything, I really liked the little streets connecting the hotel to the neighbourhood, which despite the fact were packed with tourists and partiers, still seemed quite safe. I would recommend this hotel and stay there again.

Not a five star as stated/rated

This place is right in the face of RLD of Amsterdam

Close to train station

Close to all local transports

Ofcourse there is noise around the hotel (what do you expect in the center of all expected night life)

No swimming pool

Lobby is beautiful (don't fall for this)

There is a good chance you will be getting a larger room

Room upgrade Eur55/day

Horrible expensive breakfast - bad service too - not clean as well

Location is great - all walkable (canal tours, Dam square etc.)

Room Tip: choose an interior room where there is no road/street behind

Was the best priced decent hotel on the date I needed for one night in the

Very convenient, if not the most charming, location and with free wifi throughout (I now rule out hotels that do not offer free wifi immediately, hotel industry take note).

Flashy grand lobby but in truth a little dated beyond there. The whole place was somehat non-descript and Amsterdam has nicer hotels, sometimes at nicer prices too, just not for me on this occasion.

Would I stay again? If it was the right price, then yes because it was fine, but not without checking alternatives first.
