“AMAZING!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

Booking this hotel for my wedding anniversary was the best decision I have made. We opted for a suite which came with its own butler who assisted us in unpacking our bags some ironing that we did and later on came and ran our bath. However that was just the tip of what was to become a very big iceberg.
This hotel is amazing there are so many facets to it from the tour around the building telling us of its rich history to the small areas where you can sit and just enjoy the space with a glass of champagne or scotch. The staff were so helpful and arranged anything we wished to do.
I would recommend asking them to arrange a guide for the day it was about 250 euro but we saw some amazing hidden gems. I would recommend anyone to see the art deco cinema in the centre of Amsterdam it truly is amazing and still operational.
The bed was super comfortable the location is perfect. I really wouldn't consider staying anywhere else in Amsterdam. This is up there with the best hotels I have stayed in.
We also ate at the restaurant and if you like seafood don't bother looking anywhere else this is amazing.

I don't usually write reviews afer holidays but on this occasion it had to be done.
After our recent four night stay for my 30th birthday we have vowed never to stay anywhere else in Amsterdam!
This was our first visit to the beautiful city.
We booked the luxury room with a request for a high floor with a view of the canal.
Our request was granted after a few emails back and forth beforehand with the hotel reception staff.
They were extremely helpful, answering each query (and I had a lot) very fast.
Upon arrival we were shown to our room by a lovely lady who was very happy to offer advice on museums and things to do during our trip. She also showed us how to use the nespresso coffee machine which we were delighted to find in our room!
The room we were allocated was lovely, spacious, very clean and had just about everything you could possibly need. The bathroom in particular was very modern with a lovely big bath (with a tv on the wall!) and a huge walk-in shower.
A kettle was offered to us when my fiancé mentioned that he doesnt drink coffee.
We had only been in our room for five minutes when a member of staff rang the doorbell & surprised me with a beautiful birthday cake. It alooked and tasted amazing and was a lovely start to our trip!
During our stay we were particuarly impressed with the concierge. They were some of the most down to earth, helpful, friendly people we've ever met. They assisted us with everything, from showing us where the pool/spa area was located, to booking our museum tickets and taxis. Nothing was a hassle or problem for them & everything was done very quickly.
It's nice to deal with people who are not only very good at their jobs but who seem to genuinely want you to enjoy your stay.
The hotel itself is an impressive beautiful building which we felt was in a great location.
Close to the busy area where there are plenty of restaurants etc but set back slightly so not too noisy.
The entire stay was so good that we plan to go back in August when the weather is nicer.
The spa area is lovely. The courtyard was undergoing renovation while we were there but we look forward to seeing it finished in the summer. A lovely big area to sit and have a coffee.
This hotel is by no means cheap but for the price we felt the attention to detail made it well worth the money.
The little extras are what make this hotel a five star. They deserve their 5 star rating do doubt whatsoever.
Best holiday to date :)
Excellent staff and good value for money.
Cleanest hotel we've been to.
Cheaper prices when you go for 5 to 7 nights than 4 nights, great reason to go back for a full week this time :)

Just arrived home after 2 nights at The Grand Hotel in Amsterdam. We had a lovely suite, were met with an extremely warm welcome and all the staff were friendly throughout our stay, nothing was too much trouble and the personal butler service available was an added touch of glamour!
The tour guide who showed us around the original part of the hotel was fantastic and certainly knew his facts. The food was to an excellent standard especially the breakfast. Would definately stay here again if we came back to Amsterdam.

Thank you to all of the staff for making our Valentines weekend one to remember.

Room Tip: View overlooking the front courtyard and entrance is one to opt for.

Have just returned from a 3 night stay at The Grand Hotel in Amsterdam and I can truly say it was one of the best hotel stays I have experienced (among a great many!). We were travelling with our young son, and from the minute we arrived, every member of staff we encountered was absolutely delightful; friendly, professional, helpful, knowledgeable and charming. The hotel itself is beautiful; a grand old building in the heart of Old Amsterdam, very conveniently located for sight seeing. It is finished to a high standard, very nicely furnished, our bedroom was stylish and most importantly the bed was very comfortable. Despite having a cot in the room, it was still a perfectly good size, and housekeeping were very thorough (you notice this more when you have a small child dropping bits all over the carpet!).

But what really made this hotel stand out for us was the attitude of the staff. The welcome on arrival was very warm, genuine and friendly. We had mentioned in passing when checking in that our son was a last minute addition to a romantic weekend away - an hour later champagne arrived at our room with a very kind note hoping that it would help us unwind even if the weekend hadn't started as planned. The staff in the restaurant, bistro and lounge made the biggest fuss of our son, treating him like a little prince, presenting him with a teddy at breakfast, having his highchair and special plate/bowl/cutlery laid out ready for him each meal time. The supervisor took the trouble of finding out our name and greeting us each morning. Little things but they all added up to a truly first class experience.

The food by the way is wonderful - the breakfasts are amazing, great variety, fresh croissants and pastries, good selection of hot options too. We also dined at the Bridges restaurant one night which was really excellent with interesting and challenging taste combinations - pricey but well worth it.

The only problem with this hotel is that it will be an impossibly hard act to follow for wherever we stay next... It is really exceptional and I have no hesitation in recommending it wholeheartedly.

Room Tip: Recommend getting a canal view room if you can

Just back from a weekend break in Amsterdam to celebrate our Anniversary. Booked the Grand Hotel due to the excellent reviews on Tripadvisor.

We arrived in Amsterdam late morning and checked straight in to our room. I had emailed prior to our visit to request a quiet room on a higher level and we had a beautiful room on the top floor. The reception staff were very helpful in advising on places of interest for our stay. The hotel is in a central location with easy walking distance to most attractions.

After wonderful days exploring Amsterdam it was a delight to return to the luxury of the hotel. The hotel is immaculate, with every amenity you would expect in a 5* hotel and the rooms very comfortable. The staff were welcoming, polite and very helpful. We had breakfast included and it was delicious, the service was excellent and a good selection of fresh fruit, cereals, bread, meat, cheeses and a yummy cooked breakfast.

On our Anniversary we received a bottle of Moët Champagne and a lovely handwritten card from the staff, a lovely touch which made our day even more special.

A very memorable trip to Amsterdam made special by the Grand Hotel and its wonderful staff.
