We stayed at this hotel for two nights, as my 40th birthday was on the 29th December. We had complimentary champagne upon arrival. The location is perfect for exploring beautiful Amsterdam and the staff were extremely helpful. We used the spa which was relaxing and therapeutic. We enjoyed champagne with the staff on the Thursday evening and tried some delicious cheese! Our room was comfy and was regularly tidied and freshened up. It was a birthday that I will always remember and I would love to return one day. Amsterdam is a fantastic and architecturally wonderful city.

We just spent christmas at The Grand and have been delighted by the knowing hospitality that they offer. The welcome was warm, efficient and genuine and we loved the festive decoration in the public areas of the hotel-it was suitably grand but tasteful too. There were chocolate and biscuit sweet treats in great glass jars available to take, to the joy of my small son, throughout our whole stay.

We were rather surprised at the proportions of our junior suite. There were three of us and the extra bed compromised our space. The room felt like a regular deluxe room-in fact it is a room, not big enough to be classed as a junior suite. We asked our assigned butler Bart if there were any other junior suites available but unfortunately there were none, so we stayed there and still enjoyed the fantastically comfortable beds, the soothing rain shower and quality of all towels, linen, furnishings and service. For reference Room 452 -though lovely, has to be one of the smaller junior suites.

We found all staff, front desk, room service, housekeeping, butlers to be friendly, super efficient and knowledgeable. There were lots of little extra christmas treats left in the room, besides the usual truffles, there were bags of chocolates , cookies and candy sticks. Santa even found us there-thankfully-and left a thankyou message for my son who had left out waffles and whisky for him on christmas eve.

We used the pool and steam room on boxing day evening -and enjoyed the intimate atmosphere and size -by 9pm we had the place to ourselves.

And, we indulged in a little room service for breakfast oen morning and dinner one evening but didn't partake in the 33 euro breakfast in the restaurant though it looked really lovely we just couldn't justify it. We found a great place for breakfast on Rokin-no100-called B&B-really highly recommended.

Staying at the Grand made our christmas Amsterdam trip really special because we felt like we were in a very solid, competent hotel-a place where people want to look after you and enjoy making your stay warm and comfortable. This feeling is worth paying for-and when you take into account the very high standards of the hotel, the quality of service and surroundings then this is really great value for money.

Despite our small junior suite-the position of the hotel, the ethos of sofitel which is evident in all the staff at the Grand and the gorgeous facilities available -we loved being based there for four festive days in december.

Hope we can return!

Room Tip: 452 is not one of the bigger junior suites nice to have a canal view

Check in 45 min due to a wrong arrival date.
Twin room instead of DBL room booked
1 day to change the bed in Italian bed.
Conciergerie push you to buy services all time
If you are not rich, you will receive a different welcome and services.
Taxi did not want to drive us until central station
They debit my card 2 times without asking me and the made 1 week to re-credit it.
For a 5 stars hotel, the service is worst than an ibis hotel.

The hotel is in the centre of town so we walked to all the attractions that we wanted to see. The standard rooms are not big but the suitable for us. The used the hotel transfer to and from the airport which made everything very easy as we arrived at different times and no one had to organize money. The highlight of our stay was the concierge Mr Udo Eshuijs who organized medicine for our daughter who had asthma and needed a puffer. He organized the hotel doctor to send a script to the chemist and sent a taxi to collect it then delivered it to the room personally. He suggested various restaurants that were all great and made our stay memorable. If you stay please use his recommendations.

All I can say is that this is the most amazing hotel I have ever stayed at!
The room was absolutely wonderful; including a free standing bath in the middle of our huge bathroom.
The MyBed was so comfortable, that it was really difficult to drag myself out of there.
The service was great, and the breakfast delicious.
Highly recommended!

Ive stayed at the Grand a few times in Amsterdam and this December was there for 3 nights.

The hotel and it's staff are excellent and you can't fault it one bit. The Christmas decor is beautiful and the open fireplace in the library is great for relaxing in front of. We also enjoyed champagne with the whole team on Thursday evening, nothing is too much trouble.

I also used the spa which was incredible, a 60min massage, it's world class. Hermes toiletries are in your room and I also got a nice complimentary bottle of champagne sent up!

This is The Best hotel in Amsterdam and they will make it feel like home from home.
