We first were given a small ground floor queen room right off the noisy lobby, with a view of a cement wall, and we were very disappointed. But since we had a rate that was "3 nights for the price of 2" we glumly felt that we couldn't expect much. Then we were moved to an upper floor superior king room with French doors and a Juliet balcony overlooking the extensive gardens and our entire outlook changed. Breakfast was about $40 extra per person per day, but there were several bakeries and cafes within a block or two which were more than adequate for breakfast at about $100 per couple. The indoor or outdoor bar were perfect places to unwind after a day of sight-seeing. All in all, we were very pleased with this hotel.

Dear loyal guest,
It is with great pleasure to read that you had a wonderful stay with us and that Hotel Pulitzer met your expectations. I appreciate your feedback, as it plays a valuable role in our continuous process of guest service improvement. I am pleased to read you were upgraded to an even nicer room, with a great view on our gardens. Hotel Pulitzer consists of twenty – five canal houses, resulting in a hotel with Amsterdam heritage and cultural influences. In closing, dear guest, I would be delighted to welcome you back to Hotel Pulitzer in the near future.
Warm regards, Lennart Maas

This is a beautiful hotel in a great neighborhood. However the follow through on various matters by the hotel was conspicuously absent. 1- We made reservation by phone for 2 adults and 1 child, the email confirmation included just 2 adults. 2- We emailed twice to clarify ths situation - no response. 2- On the phone, while making the reservation we asked the price of a cot and was told there would be no charge. On arrival we were told 45 Euros/night. This was waved when we agreed to an upgrade to an executive room. 3- On the phone we asked if there werea kettle in the room and were told there was. Upon arrival there was no kettle and at first they refused to supply one. The chamber maids did not replenish the tea bags the 3 nights we were there. 4- The stopper of the sink was broken and despite requests was not fixed by the time we left.

From the moment we stepped inside the staff were warm and friendly. The hotel was in a great location. The rooms were a little dated and the plumbing was poor. (when in the shower/bath the water got half way up your legs) it didnt runaway quick enough. The a/c was not cold enough, and sometimes the corridors were too hot. Be careful of the taxi company the concierge use ( they overcharge). The restaurant and bar were very good and the quality was high. However, the bar staff had to be asked about bar snacks, before they offered them. ( this is supposed to be a chain standard) Re room locations. The garden/ courtyard rooms are much quiter than the canal/view rooms.

Stayed one night. Check in was efficient. After flying all night it was a nice surprise to have rooms available by mid-morning. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Location is great. Located on the main canal, you are centrally located. Just a short walk to the main square, and even shorter walk to the Anne Frank house.
Room was very nice and comfortable. Quiet.
Would stay here again.
