“Attractive Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2013

Stayed four nights. Great location. Hotel is in a quiet area with many local cafes and restaurants. Easy and interesting walk to the centre and museum zone. Approx 100 metres from tram system and Canal Bus stop which makes all of Amsterdam easily accessible.
Very very comfortable bed. Just a bit expensive but would stay again.

Room Tip: Room 411 is at the front of the hotel on the fourth floor overlooking the canal.

We paid £450 for two nights room-only at this hotel (Fri/Sat). Whatever you do, if you want a relaxing time, refuse to stay in room 261! Our room was reached via a corridor with flaking plaster walls (there was a sign on the wall apologising for its state, which didn't comfort me). The room itself was not particularly large or well-furnished and unfortunately was directly opposite a glass corridor with residents walking past, so we had to keep the net curtains closed as our room was directly overlooked at close quarters. Worst of all, our room was directly next to the cleaner's room and she was in and out of the room from 8 a.m. onwards- the door closed heavily numerous times, there were running taps and banging noises. If I had been staying on business, perhaps I would have been up by 8 a.m., but we planned for a relaxing weekend break and were thus disappointed. When I brought it up with a receptionist she just adopted a rictus smile and apologised... I tried to explain that I thought that this was an inadequate response but she just smiled and shrugged. Whilst the bathroom was well-equipped and the hotel is well-located, I don't think it is remotely 5 star; at least if you stay at a Premier Inn and you don't have a good night's sleep they give you your money back!

Room Tip: Avoid room 261.

I've stayed at the Hotel Pulitzer twice, and I absolutely love it. The hotel itself is gorgeous, and I love wandering the hallways and breezeways to get to the rooms. Of course, the rooms are pretty small and I think the shower head is made for people under 5 feet tall, but the location is perfect, the staff is extremetly attentive and the restaurant and bar are fantastic.

It's within perfect walking distance of a lot of museums and restaurants. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

Room Tip: Spend a little extra on a deluxe room so you can have a view of the canal. All of the rooms are smal...

Stayed over a weekend. After trailing larger parts of Amsterdam by foot, I must say it is a joy to in live in this beautiful area of the city.
Regarding the hotel specifically:
Standard room, courtyard facing, had all we expected and needed.
Did not eat anything so no opinion to share.
Front desk and bell boy very helpful.
Would stay again.

We stayed for 7 days and loved every bit of the hotel, its history and architecture.

Tram stop is just 2 minutes walk and Ann Frank house is just around the corner also.

Great staff but there was one concierge staff who told us that the trams do not go directly to Rijksmuseum so we had to go two stops towards Centraal Station and back again. We found out the no. 2 did go. Made us look like real tourists getting on and off trams like we're lost!

Overall, a good vacation.

Forget any critical reviews. This is one of the most charming hotels in Europe. A row of canal houses. The hotel displays original art on the walls. Our room number 372 was large with a canal view. Staff was great. Hotel was very clean. Location between two canals was a 25 minute walk from the museum area and about 20 minutes from the Rembrandt House. An excellent choice in Amsterdam.

Asked the concierge to mail package to address in Amsterdam because i had to catch a plane and was told that the post office was 3 or 4 blocks away and why did I not do it myself. She declined to do it. For the price charged I expected more!
