“Very cool spot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2013

As a first timer in Amsterdam, I didn't have any idea of what to expect. The Pulitzer laid out the red carpet (literally). We happened to be in town for a giant, nationally televised classical concert the hotel sponsors, right on the canal. We had a bird's eye view of the event. What a spectacular sight it was. I'm not even into classical (I like hip hop!) and really enjoyed the whole experience. The hotel was super crowded for the event, but they made sure it never turned into a hassle for the guests by setting up an alternate entrance in the back. I'd highly recommend if you are planning a late summer trip there to go that weekend and stay at Pulitzer, it was a really amazing crowd and an amazing event.

The hotel itself is incredibly unique, a sprawling property featuring lots of amenities. The breakfast which was included in our package was excellent. We had drinks and dinner at the bar, also very very solid.

Rooms had hardwood floors, great AC, very nice toiletries, oversized bath towels. Ours was right on a canal, a gorgeous view.

Location is excellent too (although the city is so compact you probably can't go wrong as far as that is concerned). If you are a museum rat though, it is a bit on the far side from those (like the Van Gogh museum). You can walk it, but you will be better off catching a trolley.

The service and people were super nice and helpful too. I'd return in a heartbeat. A class hotel in a very cool city

Dear trailerguy,

Thank you so much for these nice comments and your very motivating words for our team.
Such comments certainly help in motivating our staff and more importantly assist us to provide a more personal service.
The Prinsengracht Concert is indeed one of the biggest events in the year for Hotel Pulitzer. How nice that you joined us in celebrating the 400 years existence of our Canals!

With warm regards,

Alex van Gastel

Beautiful hotel in a great location for exploring Amsterdam on foot. Gorgeous, boutique-feeling hotel. Complex of old row houses can be difficult to navigate so pay attention when you check-in! Staff is 5-star all the way. Close to the shops of the Jordaan, steps from the Anne Frank Huis (a block away). Hotel staff is friendly, rooms are small (even by European Standards) and smartly designed. Everything you'd come to expect from a top-notch property that keeps racking up the awards. Highly sought after so upgrades (even for SPG Platinum) not as likely. One of a kind spot. Highly recommend!

Shopping, Museums and Great Coffee Houses. Then a short stagger home to LUXURY!
One of the finest restoration properties of the Luxury Collection. Also whether you believe it or not, the Dutch are some of the greatest Hoteliers in the world and extremely hospitable people. So give it a try for business November to April, May to October for amateur tourists. Winter sucks in the EU.

This property is perfectly suited to Amsterdam. Created from a series of old townhouses, every room seems to have its own boutique charm. The location is perfect - minutes from virtually anywhere by foot, super convenient to the Jordaan, and right on one of the main concentric canals, the Pulitzer has never disappointed me. My very favorite activity is to hire their historically significant boat "the Tourist" for a private extended canal cruise. Beyond cruising the canals and the narrow streets of Old Amsterdam, returning to this hotel at the end of the day is a welcome treat. The staff are friendly, the rooms are "Sparkling Clean" and the beds are fully comfortable. I ahve stayed here many times and look forward to many happy returns here.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel have nice views of the more "quiet" canal.

The Hotel Pulitzer was recommended to us by our daughter who has stayed there. It was
the perfect spot to be in Amsterdam. From the minute we approached the check in area to
the minute we left, the staff was extremely professional. The concierge was very well informed.
The cocktail area outside is also perfect for a delicious latte. We also dined in the restaurant 238which was exceptional. Too many adjectives? There could be more. As we were going on a riverboat trip -we did not book a canal facing room. Our room faced a courtyard. It was bright, clean and well appointed as was the bathroom. We would love to return another time.

We stayed here over 2 years ago. We loved it !
I enjoy writing reviews for Tripadvisor and now read everything they have before visiting a city.
Rather than me saying the same things...just read all the others...
The location, the room, the garden, the staff, the building(s).
Of all the things in Amsterdam our favorite was getting a bottle of wine and some cheese and sitting on a bench across from the hotel and watching everyone go by on boats.

The rooms are really tiny and dingy. There is nothing luxurious about them. The bathrooms too are small and do not have grab bars making them accident prone. The ameneties are very basic. Internet in the rooms is terrible. The bar is nice and lively.
