“Hotel Pulitzer-best choice in Amsterdam”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2012

We made the right decision by staying at the Hotel Pulitzer this past New Year's for 10 days. From our initial welcome from a sincere and warm staff to our reluctant departure we felt we were home away from home. Our room was on the canal and was charming, well appointed and spacious. Our teenagers stayed in a room next door and their room was also unique, spacious and lovely, The location is safe and close to all of the sites. We enjoy walking so the walks to the museums gave us the opportunity to explore this beautiful city. A highlight was the walk through the hotel art gallery each morning on the way to our amazing breakfast, included in the costs. Everything about this hotel and staff was superb and we could not have been more pleased!

Room Tip: Executive room on the canal was just beautiful

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you very much for your wonderful compliments. I am more than happy to read that your expectations were exceeded during your stay with us earlier this year. Indeed, Amsterdam is what we call a walking city; the location of Hotel Pulitzer is perfect for exploring Amsterdam by foot.

Our ambassadors were delighted to hear that you have enjoyed Hotel Pulitzer to the fullest; the indigenous room you stayed in, the welcoming feeling, the delicious breakfast buffet and the charm of the art gallery. Every three months all art pieces are renewed. I would like to invite you back in the near future and discover more beautiful paintings on your way to the breakfast!

With warm regards,

Alex van Gastel

Just returned from a weekend in Amsterdam. The Hotel Pulitzer must be one of the best hotels in the city. Its location, right on one of the central canals, cannot be beaten. You are literally minutes from the tram stop and Anne Frank's House.

The staff at the hotel are brilliant. So friendly and professional. The restaurant was very good and the service excellent. The bar manager and his staff were outstanding. I really can't say enough about how good they are which makes The Pulitzer a true gem.

The standard rooms are small (even by European standards) and the bathrooms even smaller! Having said that, they are exceptionally comfortable with wonderful big beds and top quality linens, pillows, etc. If room size is important to you then definitely upgrade to the bigger canal view rooms to avoid disappointment

The weather during our stay was very cold and we so enjoyed returning to our comfortable, warm and cosy room. Turn down service (which you have to request) was great. Each night we came back to bottles of water at the bedside, fresh towels and the Bose Radio playing softly in the background. A little cardboard canal house was left on the pillow containing a delicious chocolate. What a great welcome back.

As I mentioned, the restaurant was very good - excellent steaks - and the wine choice equally impressive. Ask the waiter if you can try a sip of the wine before you order a bottle. They offer almost all the wines by the glass and are happy to oblige. We didn't have breakfast in the restaurant but opted instead for room service. It was the only disappointing element of our stay - over priced and poorly presented. I'm sure breakfast in the restaurant would have been better but it was also very expensive so we had breakfast out for our remaining days.

Apart from breakfast we couldn't have aksed for more. A wonderful stay at a simply wonderful hotel. If you like individuality, top notch service and comfortable rooms then I'd certainly recommend The Pulitzer.

Room Tip: If room size is important to you then upgrade to a bigger room.

You know you're in a five star in Amsterdam when:
- they leave little dutch caramel waffles in the room for you
- they have an art gallery in the hotel
- there is a chandelier in the gym
- you're far away from the red light district
- they have newspapers from every language

Lovely five star hotel in a great part of Amsterdam - would recommend to anyone.

We just returned from a wonderful weekend at the amazing Hotel Pulitzer in Amsterdam. If you are considering where to stay I cannot recommend this hotel and it's staff highly enough. The rooms are all unique as they are a collection of canals houses made into this wonderful hotel. The staff are so welcoming and nothing is too much trouble.
They also have a private boat that Winston Churchill once used to take you around the canals in grand style. Enjoy!

Room Tip: Canal view rooms are worth the small amount extra if your budget goes to it.

From the minute we walked in to the beautiful lobby we knew we were in a 5* hotel.

Staff - extremely polite, friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much hassle for them.

Room - Immaculate.

Location - Excellent location, close to all attractions but far away enough to feel like you're a local.

General - The gym was unique. I've never seen such palatial surroundings for gym equipment. Chandelier and all!

A superb hotel on all fronts.

The Pulitzer is my first choice when staying in Amsterdam. Each room is unique because the hotel is made up of many classic homes. On this stay I was in a room on the top floor. It had large beams and a peaked two story ceiling. On other occasions a courtyard and a canal view. There is a good fitness facility with the only limitation that you cannot use the treadmill between 11pm and 7am. The staff are always very pleasant and extremely helpful with special thanks to Mohammed who is always exceptional. Dining is always good for breakfast or dinner. The location is perfect. I can walk to most places in the city.

Room Tip: Be cautious of your ability to walk up stairs. Some rooms are located away from elevators.

Great hotel with well appointed rooms. Make sure to get a canal view room. The service was excellent and the food in the restaurant was also good. We really enjoyed the overall atmosphere and location. The hotel is made up of 25 classic homes along the canal in downtown Amsterdam. The only minor criticism was the high fee to access wifi at 19 euro per day.
