The Hotel Pulizter's Restaurant Keizersgracht 238 is a dream come true. We ate five amazing meals there during our stay. If the restaurant was here in NYC we would eat there all the time. My husband has a severe allergy to tree nuts and the staff could not have been better. The pork chops were cooked to perfection--and they made my husband a lovely apple reduction (since the pepper sauce on the menu had traces of nuts). The next night he had the filet mignon, and again they made him a special sauce this time with truffles. At most restaurants the staff usually would not go through the trouble of making a new sauce and would have just served it plain. The hotel ordered in special bread for my husband as well, since I had informed them in advance of his allergy. The buffet breakfast included with the room was very decadent with many offerings. I have been to five star restaurants that had a larger selection, but this one has the best quality of food which to me is more important. The breakfast included a cheese offering of the finest Holland cheeses. Since it is not safe for my husband to eat at buffets, the staff prepared him his eggs in a separate area. They also included a nice mix of fresh fruit, nut free bread, and cucumbers for him. Everything was so very delicious. Also, stop by the hotels cafe for the best apple pie. My husband could not eat it, but I savored every bite. A little bit about the hotel. We would definitely stay there again. The location is perfect -- right in the center of everything. We were able to walk everywhere. The room was very nice. If you are older be sure to ask for a bathroom that does not have a high ridge to step over--this was the only thing I did not like about the hotel. We took the boat tour on the hotel boat it, which Winston Churchill by the way went on. It is well worth it. They had drinks and little snacks on the boat. We loved the architecture of the hotel--it is wonderful for those who like to stay in well-renovated historic hotels. Be sure to ask the concierge about arranging a walking tour. It is a great way to get an overview of the city and see some hidden treasures. Also, the tour arranged cheese, chocolate, and spirits sampling on the tour, to get the flavor or Amsterdam. The whole trip was just wonderful and the Hotel and especially the restaurant made it very special.
