“Must-see museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2014

Good availability by trams from downtown. Ticket price 15EUR. Not necessary to preorder.
Museum has beatiful collections of paintings with best known Rembrandt's Night watch and his other work. Also other Dutch painters from 17th century are worth seeing. But what I loved most was models of old ships. These were fantastic.

“Well worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2014

Book online and go early!! We booked online and our queue was still quite long, but the other queue was insane! Museum was so busy! Give yourself a lot of time to get around. Rembrandt paintings and Van Gogh are the busiest and you may have to be patient to get a good view of them. Dont expect to get a seat either in the restaurant unless you queue here for a good while. Coffee shops outside though are nice! Definitely worth a visit!!

“Great for Wet Weather!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2014

I hadn't initially intended to visit the Rijksmuseum on my three day visit to Amsterdam, but bad weather left me with a spare day and so I took the plunge. First impressions were great. The museum has recently been completely renovated and looks magnificent. The building is a striking contrast between the old traditional exterior and modern, bright interior.

Tickets can be purchased online, however it chose to purchase mine on the day. This worked well for January however I would suggest using the online facility at peak season. This will avoid lengthy queues. Along with my ticket (€15 Adult) I was offered an audio guide (€5) and opted to purchase the English guidebook (€10). I would highly recommend buying the book as it serves as an excellent guide and momento of the visit.

Before entering the exhibits you are required to leave bags and coats. This facility is free (Thumbs up) however the queues are rather lengthy. I ended up waiting ~15 minutes, however I've heard that queues up to an hour can be expected in the summer.

As for the actual exhibits, what can I say. The collection is huge, arranged chronologically and offering something for everyone. There were a number of highlights and it was certainly an education. Photography is welcome inside the museum which was nice to see.

After my visit I chose to get drink a bite to eat at the cafe. Again, there were queues (~4pm) but they were tolerable. The staff were extremely friendly and the food was lovely. I chose to sample a Dutch cheese and meat selection, with a tea and princess cake. Prices were rather steep, which was to be expected, but worth it for a nice treat.

Overall, an excellent visit, it was just a shame about the queues.

“Visit to Rijksmuseum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2014 via mobile

We visited this museum in March. This is beautiful museum, we were fortunate to be include in a English speaking guided tour which we paid 5 euros extra but worth the money. The center piece painting is "Night watch", wonderful painting (ask why the little girl is holding a chicken). We enjoyed the tour, you must visit if you are in Amsterdam.

“Outstanding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2014

The quality of the exhibitions and the splendid presentation following the major refurbishment must make the Rijksmuseum one of the very finest museums in the world. It is not to be missed, the best time to go is reasonably early in the day and ideally Monday. I would recommend a guide, it seems extravagant , but with so much to see it is worthwhile .
