Be forewarned: the Rijksmuseum is currently going through an extensive renovation and expansion. And at 10 euros each, it was still the best value we encountered during our entire trip. The museum focuses on Dutch art and the masters: Vermeer, Rembrandt, etc. Each piece of art also includes little factoids both in Dutch and English. The self-guided tour takes you from room to room at a steady pace (you can get the audio tour for an additional fee, but why bother?). Staff is very friendly so long as you do not use a flash, and a tram stop is right outside the door. Oh, and many of the items in the gift shop were 50% off -- score! During our trip, we visited both this museum and the Louvre -- in terms of experience, this was much more enjoyable.
