“Just Great!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2012 via mobile

Myself and my 10 year old daughter recently had the great pleasure of a five night stay at All Inn The Family. What a wonderful experience.
Our host and hostess were fantastic.
Accommodation was pretty and clean...and the breakfasts were 5 star.
And walking distance to the best bits of Amsterdam.
I would have no hesitation staying and recommending this wonderful B & B.

I went on vacation to Amsterdam for 10 and stayed at this beautiful B & B. The room i stayed in was small and yet spacious enough for me. As for reaching my room, the stairs were pretty steep. But after a couple of days I got used to it. The hosts, Marion and Anne, were warm and friendly. Absolutely easy to converse with. They were also very accommodating, especially when I needed additional help ( which was often).

Breakfast was a feast with an array of breads, cheeses, fruits, and you get the idea. After starting out with a breakfast like that, it was so easy getting to the public transportation although unnecessary. By foot, I was able to visit Anne Frankhuis, Westerkerk, Dam Square, and even Central Station. Therefore the location of this place was simply ideal. A haven, I could truly relax and also have fun with all the nearby attractions. Truly couldn't have asked for more. And if I manage to make it to Amsterdam again, it's safe to say that I know where I would be staying.

We have no negatives here and would definately stay again. Dont be put off by the spiral staircase to the third floor or the shared bathroom as it just adds to the whole experience. The breakfast is fantastic, with fresh fruit, muesli, cheese, meat, warm bread, and fresh orange juice, great start to the day. Dont do what we did! We started of catching trams and taxis, only to realise that we could walk literally everywhere we wanted to go. Anne Frank house is a five minute walk (get there early) and there are numerous restaurants in the area. If you want to feel welcomed by a Dutch Family in there home this is the place for a memorable stay.

Room Tip: Our room on the street side was a little noisy, next time we would request the room on the courtside...

On a quaint street near the canals and within walking distance to just about everything. Perfect for a single person or couple. You must climb like 3 winding flights of stairs to get up to the little bedroom, but it's not a big deal. You share a bathroom with the other bedroom but you have your own sink in your bedroom. They provide a delicious breakfast in the morning too. We had yogurt and fruit, warm bread with butter, and coffee/lattes. It was amazing. The owners are incredibly hospitable and friendly. Great rates and great location. I would stay there again.

For a long weekend I went to Amsterdam with my mother. because we wanted to stay central, and also like staying in a traditional grachten-house, we decided to stay in the All in the family.
The accommodation is located in the city, very close to the Anne Frank House and Westerkerk. All attractions are reachable by foot or by tram. in the street, there are many great restaurants and pubs, but the road is very quiet in the room it is very quiet.
Anne and Marion are really lovely hosts. they care about everything and you immediately feel like beeing in a big family. The breakfast is excellent. Every morning there was fresh fruit and fresh squeezed orange juice, cereal, bread... just great. For breakfast we were all sitting together on a big table in the cute kitchen and get great tips for the day (traditional markets, festivals, etc.). all with a great garden view. The garden can be used when the weather is fine. The rooms are lovely decorated , with attention to detail. there are fresh flowers every day, which are distributed in the rooms.
All in all a highly recommended accommodation, thank you Anne and Marion for that final touch for our Amsterdam trip!

Room Tip: if you are not that mobile you should choose a room that is not in the upper floor as the stairs are...

I've just returned from Amsterdam & a three night stay with Marion & Anne at All Inn The Family. Situated in The Jordaan area of the city, it was nicely tucked away from the hustle bustle of the centre. Within view of the Westkerk, and a short walk from the Westmerkt tram stop (Tram 13 from Central Station).

My welcome couldn't have been friendlier on my arrival. As the other reviews state, you are staying in what can only be described as a family home. I loved the house which was full of character throughout.

Breakfast was a delight too. I sat each morning and feasted on good food, whilst Marion happlily chatted away to me, talking about various subjects. A good set up for the day :)

In the local area, there are various eating houses and a couple of bars to frequent. I enjoyed going to the Cafe De Tuin situated further down the street. A local's bar/cafe with a friendly welcome & atmosphere. Try it out!

A lot of shops seem to sell poor quality souvenirs.. I found the best one to be located in the corner of Dam Square - Dutchsouvenirs

Have you ever walked into someone's home for the first time and just felt like you were part of the family? Warmth, laughter, smiles, twinkling eyes, inviting scents wafting from the kitchen, comfy furniture, and spaces well-filled with momentos and loved objects? This is that place.

This is a bed and breakfast, of course, but it is also Anne and Marion's home. I know that is the definition of bed and breakfast, but many B&Bs I've stayed at have felt more like an inn than someone's home, and the emphasis here is on home.

We stayed two nights towards the end of March 2012; the last two nights of our trip to Belgium and the Netherlands. Our welcome was hearty and heart-felt, and included being introduced to Marion and Anne's six-month old granddaughter who was visiting after "school." The entry floor included a parlor and the combo kitchen/dining area (where we ate breakfast...yogurt, breads, cheese, meats, jams, cereals, coffee, juice, and more! Yum!). Our room was a couple of floors up a sturdy spiral staircase, we overlooked the back garden/yard (pretty, green)...it was easy to leave the window open or to close it, as we saw fit. Comfy bed, nice bedding, personal decorations...collected over time and well-loved. Everything was snug and charming. We had our own coffee/tea maker, perhaps in case the morning coffee didn't come soon enough! :-) Our room shared a bath with the room across the way, which was easy and convenient.

The location of Anne and Marion's home, the Jordaan neighborhood, is lovely. A quieter part of Amsterdam filled with cafes, shops, restaurants, residences, and pretty canals. We spent time wandering the area and ate at a couple of the local restaurants (the one recommended by Anne and Marion, "Mothers," was wonderful). We also spent time sitting with Anne on his street-side bench; greeting neighbors as they walked past on the street. Those who are Rick Steves fans (we are) will be interested to note that All Inn the Family is right in the middle of his guidebook's Jordaan Walk. Rick says that in the Jordaan you have "a chance to experience the laid-back Dutch lifestyle and catch a few intimate details most busy tourists never appreciate." Why just walk through when you can stay and become a part of it?!

For heavy-duty tourists....We weren't first time visitors to Amsterdam and had already seen many of the main tourist attractions, but what we did want to see, the Van Gogh Museum, was only a 20 minute, picturesque walk away. We also visited the Keukenhoff in Lisse, but that was a tram, train, and bus ride away from anywhere! Those wanting to tour Amsterdam will find All Inn the Family convenient to the standard tourist spots...Anne Frank house is 5 minutes away and the Rijkmuseum is less than 20 minutes walk. Trams are convenient to the Inn for those with tired feet!

Those wanting to feel like they are staying with friends and family in a quieter and beautiful part of Amsterdam could do no better than All Inn the Family B&B.
