I couldn't believe how much the Amstel Riverview costs for what you get - a rather shabby room with shared bathroom and no breakfast, albeit with a lovely view. Our room (the one right next to the kitchen) had lots of scuff marks on the walls, could definitely do with a new paint job, and the headboards weren't attached to the beds properly (two singles pushed together to make a double, which is never ideal), so when you sat up in bed the mattress shifted forwards leaving you with a gap between the headboard and bed... The room was also very cold, and the radiator seemed to be broken. The bedding was two single duvets, one of them with a ripped cover, and un-ironed sheets that smelled very strongly of detergent - at least the room was clean.
The person who greeted us was friendly, but we didn't see him for the rest of the stay. The hotel described itself as 'bed and coffee' (I suppose to clarify that there was no breakfast) but there was also no coffee - only tea with coffee creamer - no milk - available in a rather basic kitchen. The clientele seemed to be groups of young-ish tourists, and I just couldn't help feeling that we were all being ripped-off, there must be better places to stay than this.
Having said that, the location was very good, about a 20 minute walk to the centre, and lots of nice cafes and bars nearby.
All in all, I would avoid if possible - they would need to make a lot of improvements before I would consider staying there again.
