“Fantastic meal!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2012 via mobile

This little restaurant was round the corner from an apartment we were staying in whilst staying in Amsterdam for 5 days. From the outset the waitress was so helpful explaining what was on the menu. We had a lovely little candlelit table inside and the food was fantastic! I had the salmon dish and my partner had the guinea fowl which looked and tasted amazing! The cinnamon apple koek was to die for also! From start to finish the waitresses could not have been more helpful. The price that we paid for 2 courses each plus coffee, drinks and liqueurs was very reasonable also, about £50. Would return here if I ever came back to Amsterdam.

“Great atmosphere!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2012 via mobile

Nice little restaurant. The food, that I would qualify as Dutch with a French twist, is nice however not exceptional. The highlight of this restaurant is rather the atmosphere. Its located is a pretty street of Amsterdam near Leidseplein but away from the tourists and the mass eateries. We sat outside on a summer Sunday evening and its was just heaven. We ate under a tree with the place full with stylish ans laid back locals trying to enjoy the last moments of the week-end. The combination of great location, good and friendly service, the laid back and joyful clientele and surely the nice weather made for a great evening. I would, without hesitation, recommend the Café Toussaint for a nice diner on a sunny summer evening. You might even forget you are in Amsterdam and think for a second you are in the South of France.

“Dreamily French....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2012

During a long weekend away in Amsterdam, my partner and I visited this charming French cafe after reading a great review in our lonely planet city guide. We were not disappointed. The ambience is lovely; you really feel as if you are in a quaint cafe on a Paris street. There is a lovely outdoor seating area, though unfortunately the weather was bad when we stopped by so we could not enjoy this. The food was lovely, I had a beautiful vegetarian quiche, possibly the best I have ever had. The tapas-style starter was also lovely, and all food was reasonable. The service was friendly and helpful. I cannot say anything negative about this lovely place, it really is beautiful, and off the beaten track from tourists too which is lovely.
Will definitely be going back.

“Great meal, Good service, Nice Setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2012

We were meeting freinds in the neighborhood yesterday evening and decided to give this cafe a try based on other reports in TA. We were not dissapointed. After about a 20 minute wait we were seated outside by the owner.

All four of us were very pleased with the food and being able to sit outside ane enjoy a warm evening was wonderful.

Total cost of the bill was 80 Euros for 4 and that included 2 beers and a glass of wine and 2 deserts as well.

We would recommend this to other travelers

Happy eating

“Lovely local restaurant and helpful staff.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2012 via mobile

We stopped at toussaint for an evening meal as it was near where we were staying and had cycled passed it a few times.

It had a lovely atmosphere and nice outdoor seating area and a nice neighbourhood feel which contrasted with the tourist areas.

I had a lovely vegetarian pasta with side salad and my boyfriend had a vegetable pie (it does cater for meat eaters too). They also brought us some homemade bread and chilli oil that was really tasty. The food is well cooked and not too pricey.

What makes this place stand out for me thought is that the staff were so accommodating and helpful and translated everything into English for us.
