“Great accommodation in a beautiful location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012 via mobile

Jan your apartment is so warm and welcoming. This is the second time I have stayed here. It really felt like home with all the extras you provided. The rooms are spacious and clean and the beds very comfortable. It is a wonderful location to see and experience the wonderful city of Amsterdam. I will certainly return.

This well located, spacious, 2 bedroom, cozy apartment and the host Jan & Gelske, far exceeded our expectations. I was having a hard time finding a "quad room" in a hotel for a family of 2 adults & 2 children (aged 10 & 12 years), since most European hotel rooms are either single/double/triple occupancy. In addition, many of the vacation rental reviews mentioned very small apartments with narrow winding stairs. In contrast, Jan's apartment is on the ground floor, facing a scenic canal & is large & spacious with 2 good sized bedrooms, large living/dining room & fully functional & fully loaded (bread, meats, cheese, jams & more) kitchen. There is no phone in the apartment, but the wired & wireless internet worked perfectly allowing us to make Skype calls, as well as Jan, who lives in the apartment next door is always willing to help with making a call or any other question. In addition, Jan personally helped us plan out our bike route to Zaanse Schans, providing us with maps & personalized printout. He even called a taxicab for us to the airport on our last day (costs 30 euros to the airport) and about 10 to 12 euros by taxicab if coming from the Amsterdam Centraal train Station.
In summary, I would highly recommend Jan's apartment for location, cleanliness, comfort, amenities & most of all a friendly, delightful host who lives next door! By far the best B&B I have stayed at.

Room Tip: Both bedroom look on to the scenic canal. Absolutely noiseless at night

We stayed here for 2 nights in October. I wasn't sure what to expect. I could see from the website that it was someone's apartment. So I wasn't sure how that would work, exactly. Jan is the owner and he is fantastic. He couldn't meet us when we arrived but left directions for us to get a key and open the door. He met us later that evening and gave us ideas about what to see and some maps. Each morning he put out a simple breakfast. The value is fantastic. It is much more personal than staying in a hotel and you have a lot of space. It is a 2 bedroom apartment and so there is a lot of room and privacy. The location is not downtown, but a mile or so outside. This made it nice and quiet, but took a little more planning. Jan also lent us his bikes and that really made the trip special. Amsterdam by bike is HIGHLY recommended. We will stay here each time we pass through Amsterdam and we recommend it to others!

What a wonderful place. Very central located. The most helpful host I ever met. I definitely recommend this B&B.
