“Wonderful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2013

This small hotel has the perfect, quiet, position overlooking the canal and minutes from the museum quarter.
It is warm, clean and comfortable with good beds and offers an excellent breakfast (with great pancakes!)
Nathalie is an exceptional host; knowledgeable about things to do, transport etc and so warm and welcoming .
There are lots of steep stairs which might be a problem if you're not very mobile but, this is Amsterdam, all the old houses of character are like this.
I shall definitely be going back-it was delightful.

Room Tip: You could have a party in 103! Great canal view too.

I was on the first floor, small room with no view. Could only get in one side of the bed.

The bathroom was terrible, the shower was practically in the toilet. When showering, the water went everywhere! All over the toilet, toilet paper, towels.

No tea/coffee making facilities - no kettle. There was no iron either.

Did not have breakfast, which was looked overpriced compared with the lovely cafes nearby.
Stated online it had a garden, but we saw no evidence of a nice garden to sit in.

Disappointed. Sheets were not changed at all. Not acceptable.
Not enough toilet paper provided either. I feel customers are misled as our room was nothing like the pictures online.

We were in room 304, which was steep climb up the stairs, but gave a good view down the canals. The room was large with a big bathroom including bath. It was very clean and and warm and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts are well worth the money, and you can get any variety of pancakes and the breakfast room is very pleasnat, especially if you get a window seat. It is ideally placed for the museums (the Rijksmusuem takes all day). There are lots and lots of places to eat nearby. The walk down into the centre is pleasant and it is easy to get a trm back if you don't fancy the walk back again. I would definitely stay here when I come again. The only improvement it could make would be some double beds instead of twins.

A week before we stay 4 nights in this charming hotel and we specially enjoy the friendly hospitality of the team : it seems that we were guests and not customers. The room was perfect ( room 103) with a superb view on the canal.
We certainely return in this hotel at our next stay in Amsterdam.

Room Tip: Ask the rooms with a view on the canal, 1st stage if you have some difficulties with the stares.

small room, but comfortable. bed was comfortable; room was clean and well heated (went in mid-november); and our room facing the back courtyard was quiet. staff were friendly, and hotel cats were cute. not right in the center of the city, but central areas tend to be noisier and more crowded. location was convenient as pretty much all of central amsterdam is within walking distance. would go back.

Stayed for 2 nights. I had a single room (Room 101), very small but good enough for just sleeping. My parents had room 102 which was very large. Our rooms viewed the garden so it was very quiet. Breakfast is very good. Pancakes cheese/bacon excellent! Within 15 min walk you are in the city center/central station. Around the hotel ,you have plenty of restaurants and entertainment. This hotel is very nice, very friendly staff. Bathrooms are small and you can take a shower without cleaning the whole bathroom! I will surely come back there during my next stay in Amsterdam.

Just outside the hotel, you can take one of canal boat (with boat company 'Lovers'). Walking distance to Heineken museum/casino. Not far from Van Gogh Museum.

Dont leave the city without buying cheese/sausage in Elandsgracht. Ecological meat shop called Siem van der Gragt and Cheese shop called Tromp are both excellent. They both do vaccum packaging if you need to take it for a longer trip!

I had a terrific experience. The room was small but the window over looking the canal was hugh. Bed was comfortable, room was clean and for the price the inconvenience of the room size was completely acceptable. The staff was always pleasant and helpful. The additional charge for the cook to order breakfast in their very comfortable front room was well worth it. I adored the 5 minute walk to the museum district, being around the corner from a major shopping, entertainment and restaurant area and a few steps from outstanding canal views in Amsterdam. I could not be more positive about this hotel

Room Tip: Room 104 was small but for a single traveler or couple for a few nights would be just fine and the v...
