“Cool hotel with all you need!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2010

+ Fancy rooms with very modern design. You can choose the atmosphere by turning on different light scenes / colours. Video on demand for free, great!
+ Huge bed: easily large enough to stay with a friend witout getting to close. Just have to order a 2nd blanket, no problem.
+ Late check out: well appreciated and not too expensive (EUR 20.- per room to stay until 3pm instead of 11am)

+ Bar / Reception area. Very modern, cool wall pictures

- 'Restaurant': Don't expect too much. Small snacks, some sushi, but nothing that really fills the stomach.

+/- Location: fine during the day with tram line in front of the hotel and very close to train station. Safe and quiet area at night, but a bit far to walk back from the city and taxis can be expensive at night depending on demand (paid betw. EUR 15 and 30 from center)

If you're looking for convenience, style and value for money - this is it. CitizenM is packed with cool features..i loved the mood pad in the room and how everything was automated like the room blinds, the lights. Though the rooms were small, the rooms was well laid out and detail oriented. The shower is great! Also we had free movies to watch all night and free wifi. The library downstairs is great too, i stayed quite a few hours looking through their awesome collection of design and photography books!! We drove there from Paris and it was really easy to find, just off the highway into Amsterdam and 2 roads down. Check in was computer automated so no queues or wait! Also breakfast is good, the croissant and coffee is great and you can ask for a takeaway too! Though the hotel was not in the city centre, it was just a short tram ride away. Really convenient also if you use bikes. Loved this place will be back!

This was our second trip to Amsterdam and we only stayed 3 nights. We decided to keep the cost a little less than our last trip so we booked the CitizenM. What a cool hotel!! My husband is very tech-savvy and neither of us had any issues with checking in, operating the mood pad, or anything else here.

Now, it's not by the canal so if you're here for romance/a nice view you won't get it at CitizenM. I can see this hotel being perfect for business/short stays/people who can get around on their own easily.

Our taxi arrived at the hotel, we checked in via the kiosks right out front (paid for very early check-in and it was SO worth it!!). Within 2 minutes we were in the elevators and walking to our room. There are "ambassadors" standing by to help whenever needed and provide all sorts of information if you should require/desire it.

The bed was everything we had been looking forward to-gigantic! I wish I had one like it at home.

Tram/Train/Bus all VERY close to hotel. We bought 24 hour passes and rode the tram all over the city. We referred to maps quite often but got the hang of it pretty quick.

Coffee bar was just the thing I needed in the mornings. Fresh, strong cafe lattes. You can pick up all sorts of things to eat/drink at the little shop/coffee area in the lobby.

Free movies!!! We stopped at a delicious pastry shop and stayed up watching free movies till all hours of the night.

Everything is just as it should be and very well appointed for the small room. The rate was outstanding and so was the hotel.

I wouldn't stay here for more than 3 nights most likely and you should really go with someone you're comfortable with (bathrooms are not very private in the room).

Free wi-fi that worked pretty darn fast compared to many other places we've been. Easy to connect (no passwords/invisible networks)

We highly enjoyed CitzenM and recommend it for travelers who aren't afraid of something different and like fun stuff :)

This place was fab. It is eaily accessible by tram from the Central Station - tram line 5 and it took 10 mins and stopped right outside the hotel. On the face of it, the hotel appears to be in a residential area on a main road but a 10 min walk or 1stop on the tram finds you in a lovely street of small shops and restaurants. This place is funky beyond belief. Fair enough, the idea of the shower and toilet in the middle of the room is perhaps only for the closest of people, and it did make the room small, but aside from that it was great. The bed was an amazing, HUGE white leather bed, wall to wall, and the msot comfortable we have ever slept in. Add that to a (remote controlled) black out blind and it made for the best sleep ever after a night of partying. I would agree with other travellers that this is probably a couples place rather than for families but I would definately recommend it

There is nothing to complain about Citizen M, except that it should be present in far more cities than it is.

Whereas the list of good points overflow. I've not seen such a futuristic and interesting room, the interior design is just amazing. It reminds of me a spaceship, a lovely suite in the future, a hotel room in a space movie.

The bathroom (which is really a shower stall) and the toilet are both in a "capsule" in the room. No separated partition. The doors open automatically when you press a button. The water does not spill out the capsule as you shower in it. Its a rain shower. Even the shower gel and shampoo provided smell divine and are of high quality, and seem to be the same quality as amenities provided by five star resort chains like Banyan Tree.

The bed is huge and extremely comfortable. Feels like Sealy or something top like this. I slept like a baby. There were free movies to be watched. We packed sushi and other food from the "canteen" at the lobby up the room to eat.

This hotel is just great. I only wish there were more Citizen M round the world.

Location is perfect - train and tram nearby and beautiful beatrixpark for chilling :)
Room was very interesting, really modern and comfortable. I think this was one of the best hotel rooms I have ever been to. usually they all look the same, but CitizenM has done a really great design job there.
It does not seem to be designed for traveling with small children, but I had no issues with my 1yo son - extra sheets were offered etc.
Next time I'll visit Amsterdam i will take the same hotel. About cons, fee was charged for early check-in and water temperature was a bit varying in the shower, but this is pretty much pecking already :)

Loved loved loved this place.

Everything was very very clean. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. The bed was huge and very very comfortable. The rain shower was thoroughly enjoyable. Free movies, free adult movies, free Wifi and ridiculously cheap calling rates from the room phone was a first to have combined in one hotel. Location was so easy, the number 5 tram comes right outside and you're downtown in 10 minutes, at the red light district in 15. 10 minute ride from the hotel to the airport using Zuid station.

The only complaint one could have is that the rooms are on the smaller side, but my girlfriend and I had no problem with this as we spent most of our time in the room on the large king size, incredibly comfortable bed. Also, make sure you're comfortable with whomever you're staying with. The shower doors are see through and the frosted glass around the toilet does not hide much and is not...how do I say this...soundproof.

This place was so cool with it's very trendy design, it's location so great, it's price unbeatable for the quality you're getting, those complaints made no difference whatsoever. Loved it here, would definitely stay again. Definitely deserves it high ranking.
