“Chic and comfortable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2009

Super King size bed in the room is so comfortable.
There's moonpad could control everything in the room, very chic and very convenient. I can just lie on the bed and control everything. Good for lazy bone.
Many TV channels ,movie and wifi are free, it's so generous.
The price of food and drink in Canteen M is reasonable, and the atmosphere is excellent.
Nice place to stay.

This hotel is not for everyone. It is located outside the main Amsterdam areas, but with the rail station within walking distance and the tram stop just up the street, it was convenient enough for my stay.

The rooms are small but I think very functional. It takes time to get used to the shower and toilet being in the room. Bed was comfortable and perfect for one person. I can't really see the room being great for a couple, as I do like a bit more privacy and room when traveling with my spouse.

Some of the friendliest staff and their snack bar was great.

There is no gym or pool. There is a nearby fitness club by the RAI station but didn't bother to check it out. The only thing that was strange was getting an iron and board to iron my shirt for meeting. I had to use a common one that was located in the back where the kitchen and staff were working. Kinda strange in that sense.

Staying here was a unique experience, with very friendly and helpful staff and clean, modern rooms. The bed and pillows were wonderful and it was impossible not to have a lie in. The canteen had lovely fresh food and no more expensive than other options in the city.

The location was perfect, only a short (maybe 10min) tram ride to the central railway station, passing many of the tourist areas on route, such as Vondelpark, the museum district and Leidseplein entertainment area. The tram stop is pretty much outside the hotel (tram number 5).

Lovely quiet area for the hotel as well. We would not stay anywhere else if we visit Amsterdam again. Perfect!

An excellent choice! Not far from the airport, just a few steps walk from the metro, Zuid Station and Tram and Bus stops, easy to reach, easy to travel to city center. Faboulous (although small) rooms, a perfect concept, absolutely great design . Easy to check in and out. Once in a lifetime experience! Excellent choice for young travelers (although I'm already 40!)

Cool and modern hotel with small but comfortable rooms. Hotel employees was kind and efficient and they quickly provide for some little problems (room phone that doesn't work, for example). A bus stop is near and you can reach the city centre in 10 minutes. There is a wi-fi access in all rooms and a Mac internet point in the hall.
Flaws? The search for style and technology sometimes leads to a loss of practicality and the food at the CanteenM is a bit expensive.
Nevertheless, my stay in the CitizenM was great and I strongly reccomend it.

Design of the hotel was brilliant, loved everything about the room esp. the huge bed and pillows. Rainfall shower was great, and I didn't have trouble preheating the water (as someone else posted on this page)-- simply let it heat whilst on the handset dial, then when warm enough, switch to rainfall mode and voila! Liked the wide range of tv channels and free movies on demand. My boyfriend was ill and couldn't go out sightseeing but at least the comfy bed and great tv made up for it a little. Also, the internet connection was fast and reliable.

There are, however, a couple of drawbacks. It can be awkward if you're sharing the room with someone other than a partner or close friend, because the bed is shared and the shower curtain leaves little to the imagination! Also, canteenM is DREADFULLY overpriced-- one can find the same thing in central london for less. It's not a huge issue though, because it's easy to avoid having to eat there. I wasn't so lucky as I had to keep buying food for my ill boyfriend from canteenM and it burned a rather large hole in the pocket.
