“Modern and fun place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013

This hotel is modern and a fun place to stay. It is for the young at heart but probably not for young children. The rooms are small. The shower and toilet are in a round sliding glass enclosure. You almost feel as if you are being beamed somewhere in a star trek movie.
One controller controls mood lights, TV, window shade and more.
It has a small bar and a limited but adequate breakfast assortment.
The staff speak excellent engilsh and are very friendly. Several of the staff are from the US.
About 100 yds away you can catch the bus and go just about anywhere in a few minutes.
A King room for two was $129 euros.

The rooms are extremely small, but well equipped. They have everything you can think of in the room. The Bar and eatery (self service) is open 24/7. The hotel is in walking distance to the airport, train, and metro. Amsterdam center is only a 15 minute train ride. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Free internet access and they have computers to use. It is ultra modern, and the price is right. And for only an additional 20 euros, you can check in at 6am from those long overnight international trips.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay in this hotel. The staff couldn't enough for you and were so friendly and often gave us advice and directions for eating out, bars, days out. Although this hotel is a tram ride into the city, this suited us as it was in a nice quiet location situated within a few minutes walk from station Zuid which is one stop to and from the airport. I like the relaxed feel of Citizen M and the very funky decor and general feel of it. The staff and the hotel concept made it an experience we were blown away with. Highly recommended.

Stayed here our first two nights and loved it! The rooms are unconventional, with the rooms being basically a pod for the shower, a pod for the toilet, and a huge bed? I recommend getting your own room if you're not traveling as a couple as the quarters are tight and the shower is visible from the bed. The staff was amazingly helpful and the check-in/check-out process was super fast and easy. We loved the soap they provided in the shower (one for morning, one for night). Also, loved the free wi-fi. Finally, it is very close to Central Station, but far from the city center, so you must use the tram.

Having heard about this hotel concept, I was excited to be staying there. I ended up canceling my hotel in central Amsterdam as I thought when the title of the city said "Amsterdam City" I thought it would be in close walking distance to the center of town. Well, that was the furthest from the truth.

While the hotel is interesting, it tries way to hard to be really "cool" and it does not need to. The lobby is very relaxing and social and the rooms are interesting, however they lack any place to put your luggage and the desks are not really that conducive to working.

The checkin technology kind of works, but does have bugs, at least from my experience.

The staff was very helpful, but got a few things wrong, like a taxi that arrive an hour earlier and did not take CC's when they said they would order one that did.

The biggest issue was how far it was from the center of the city (more like 25minutes, rather than what they say to be 15). There is also nothing around the hotel.

Liked the stylish, comfortable lounges and work areas. Free wifi. Ultra friendly staff. Cool lighting and modern furniture.

Not completely sold on the bedrooms. Large, comfortable bed, multi channel TV, sound proofing all good. But didn't really like the shower and toilet pods in the middle of the room, although the design is clever and had no problem with the water temperature and pressure. Overall the effect is rather clinical and sterile.

Budget wise was reasonable although food and drink was more expensive than expected, especially the rather limited choice of microwaved hot food.

I would go back.

Where do I begin. I booked this solely on over 2.0000 reviews.i am completely and utterly gob smacked by this hotel.from the minute you walk through the doors you are greeted by friendly, smiley faced staff that can't do enough for you,it's so easy to register that you've arrived on the computer by entering your booking reference or email and you're instantly recognised,it's so personal.the whole layout of the hotel is like I can only describe as the style of an Ikea store kitted out as a hotel.its funky yet warming and so homely.then you go through the door to your room, yes it's small and compact but it's everything you need yet so more.the shower pod with mood lighting is ingenious yet practical, massive bed and we had a brilliant nights sleep, free movies on tap.i only wish we'd had at least another night here. The tram stopped literally outside,Tram 5 takes you straight to central station, passing through the famous market, van gogh museum, dam square etc.you really don't need to stay in a central hotel that's probably too noisy,it was so peaceful at the hotel.

Room Tip: Over looking the garden is good
