Well, this is quite an experience! Not for the claustrophobic nor for those who gag at the sight of anything "mid-century modern." My companion and I chose this hotel for its proximity to the airport (just a few minutes easy walk --partially covered). We had a 36 hour layover in Amsterdam-- arrived at 10:00 am and were allowed to occupy our room! I was surprised and pleased with this convenience. The front desk help is super friendly ( who trains these folks?) and we were guided through the automated check-in which was not as easy as they want it to seem... Everything is geared towards efficiency here, although some of the technology didn't seem user-friendly ( see other review about remote control). The rooms are very small--totally adequate for one person, but as noted by other reviewers, you had better know your roommate pretty well because you will be a part of their most personal rituals! The toilet is in the middle of the room, encased in an opaque sliding door cylinder , and although not see-through, it is certainly not sound proof... The room is a miracle of efficiency-- all things have a place and there is no wasted space. Amenities are limited, but adequate ( in-shower soap/shampoo dispenser, hair dryer, magnifying mirror). Bed is platform style and quite comfortable. Lots of outlets to power up you electronics. The lobby has spacious public areas with computers, reading area, bar, small grocery offering prepared foods which can be microwaved. Fresh fruit, drinks, snacks are available, but not cheap. Free wifi! We travelled by train from inside the airport into Amsterdam, spent a wonderful day sightseeing and returned to the hotel planning to eat dinner in the small but convenient dining area-- no such luck! All the selections ( only three) were gone and we were forced to walk back to the Sheraton and spend way too much on a mediocre dinner. If you are looking for a clean and convenient hotel at the airport, this is it! We paid about $120 US dollars in early June . Seemed high for the square footage, but the convenience was worth it. I would stay here only if you need an airport overnight.
All rooms are sound-proofed. We had a "city view" which was pleasant at night, but drab b...
