“Perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2012

We travelled from London to Amsterdam for a mini honeymoon two days after our wedding and we are delighted that we choose to stay at CitizenM.

The hotel is very easy to reach from the main airport, just a quick train journey to Zuid followed by a short walk. It is clean, modern and very, very cool, especially the rooms. The beds are huge and extremely comfortable and the design of the room itself resembles a spaceship! The staff were excellent and the manager was so kind to offer us a complimentary cocktail to help us celebrate our marriage - a lovely gesture.

Despite being a fair way outside the city centre, CitizenM is serviced by a tram which stops just outside the hotel and runs every 10 minutes so you can be where you need to be in just a few minutes. The hotel's location also means you can get away from the noise, hussle and bussle when you need to, which is a very nice option after a long day of exploring, walking, eating and drinking etc.

Guest are able to use complimentary internet, the drinks and food on offer in the bar were extensive and the free map showing key locations and landmarks given to all guests is extremely useful (we used it more than the one in our guidebook!) To cap it off, after check-out on our last morning the staff were happy to keep our luggage in storage to allow us another day of exploring before our 4pm flight.

We found it to be the perfect base to explore Amsterdam from and it was incredibly reasonably priced compared to all of the central hotels. We plan to return to Amsterdam next year and we will look no further than CitizenM.

I stayed at CitizenM for 3 nights, and i must say this is probably one of the most original hotels I've stayed in so far.

The design is ultra cool and modern. Its perfect for a single person stay (no hotel single rates) or a couple... but absolutely not a good hotel to stay with someone ur not comfortable being naked around :-) Love the changing mood lighting in the hotel and the fantastic r

The staff are incredible, very helpful and genuinely caring, attentive and fun. They made us feel very welcome.

As far as -ves go, there was very little to complain about. There was a small issue with the booking cos breakfast was added to our room by mistake, but it was easily corrected. The room itself is small and 2 people will bump to each other all the time. there is no wardrobe and just enough space to hang 2 coats at max. there is a drawer under the bed, but its not convenient. there was an issue also with a leaking shower head and a weird issue with the room remote control that was turning stuff on and off at will, it was not a deal breaker though. The hotel is not close to the city centre at all, and you need to take a 20 min tram to get to the centre.

highly reccommended though, i had a great time.

Great location for access to the financial district and the airport, not exactly walking distance to the touisty places but there is a direct tram line close by so it isn't really a problem.

This place isn't really about the location though, it's all about the rooms which are amazingly modern and cool. Touchscreen controls for pretty much everything in the room from the tv to the lighting for the shower. Massive square beds take up the whole end of the toom and are ridiculously comfortable...even my 6'5" from could sprawl out on them.

As pointed out in a few other reviews, this place might not be right if it's a couples first trip away together and you're still feeling a bit shy as the shower and toilet are in glass tubes in the room but that's half the fun! There are more conventional toilets down in the lobby as well for those who are not overly comfortable with the openness of the rooms.

This hotel was fantastic! Constantly talking about it to everyone...Ultra modern and unusual like nothing we have ever stayed in before and will definitely return. People who write negative reviews for this hotel have most likely not researched before arrival - mostly negative reviews about the toilet/shower. Yes they are in pods within the room but was not an issue for us, we found it quirky alongside the mood pad and coloured lights and electronic everything!! We arrived from Amsterdam Zuid station, literally a 5 minute walk to the hotel, after a 10 minute train ride from Schiphol airport. Self check in was quick and easy and there was a very friendly member of staff on hand to help. We had a choice of two rooms, city view or garden view at no extra cost. The room was clean, bright and although it's the same width as the king size bed taking up the rear wall, it didn't feel too claustrophobic (we have stayed in smaller rooms at double the price!) The automatic black out blinds were great! exactly like the photographs incl. flat screen TV offering free movies and free Wifi. Tram number 5 takes around 15-20 mins directly to Centraal/Dam Square. The tram stops right across the road from the hotel and is very reliable but could be a bit closer to everything just to make it that little bit better!! Can't comment on the breakfast but we thought it was overpriced as were the snacks and soft drinks. Totally hassle free hotel, laid back and friendly... Can't wait to try others in different cities!!!

Stayed in Citizen M during a work trip. It was such a fun experience. The hotel is really funky - staff, room style, selection of food... You will meet so many interesting people just by sitting at the bar for a drink. Staff who work there has such passion for their job - they are helpful, friendly, and FUN to be around! That is not event the best part - the hotel is 5 min walk to the channel with many good places to choose for food and drinks. It is also great for your morning power walk!

Had a four day stop over in Amsterdam with my husband at the end of our holiday, we had stayed in some lovely hotels, BnB's in the UK, this was totaly different from anything we have been to before, love it, totaly 'waky' would highly recommend, the location is great, 10 min for the airport and 15 mins from Dam square on the 5 tram.
Breakfast was super we took it in turns to go and bring breakfast to the room each morning, hot Croissants, cheeses, fab coffee and juice great start to the day.
Only criticisum is there are not products in the room, only shower jell and soap, so make sure you have all yours with you. Would stay again.
