“Let me tell you about THE BED!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2011

It didn't take me long to decide where to start from! It's definitely the bed! Wall to wall, 2.5x2.5 metres (well, approximately), it's the best bed experience you can get in an affordable hotel! Luckily, it doesn't end there. I mean, a photo of the bed was enough to convince me the first time, but the overall quality of my stay made me return again and again. If you're looking for cheap & chic accommodation, don't look any further. The room is small, but comfortable and sooo trendy it... hurts! You can even choose the colour of lighting! The shower and the toilet are in glass booths and if you're not really close to the person you're travelling with, it may get a little awkward. But then again, there's a curtain! You can draw it and stay in bed... or you can go to the lobby. Yes, that is the next best thing at CitizenM. You can have 'breakfast' any time during the day, or coffee, or tea, or just relax and enjoy one of the coffee table books. It's all there! Oh, and computers too. For free! Don't let the distance from the city centre put you off. The tram stop is right outside, though you can actually walk to the centre. Last but not least, they have the hippiest, friendliest staff there is! You don't just enjoy your stay. You make friends! Don't think twice, just make sure you make your reservation well in advance. Room rates change depending on the demand and the hotel is really popular. Hurry up!

This hotel is a great value for money. For it's reasonable price you get a clean and very cool room with it's capsule shower and claustrophobic toilette. The bed is super comfortable and everything is neat and tidy. The staff is friendly and helpful and you can get a lot of things in the cafeteria for a very decent price. The Wi-Fi is free and you can use the iMacs in the lounge for free. It is a bit outside of the city but the tram 5 and the night bus brings you anywhere within 15 minutes and it has a great connection to the airport. Better than Central Station. I can recommend to anyone who wants to stay in Amsterdam for a decent price and don't mind being a bit outside of the city centre.

This is a fab hotel! The check in/out process is effortless and fast, the staff are friendly & helpful but are not in your face. They let you do as you please but are always at hand if you need help. The rooms are amazing! Space age & different and not to everyones taste, but we loved it! The mood pad is genius and the Rain shower is one of the best showers i have ever had, and usually i am a bath girl but this was great. The bed was lovely and we had one the best night sleeps in a long time! I am very tempted to buy the sheets they use online as they were so nice!
We had the breakfast and it was around 9 euros each and was worth it. We ate at Wagamamas which is just around the corner from the hotel and this was a pleasant experience as the staff there were very good.
We used the trains & trams whilst in Amsterdam and found them to be very good & easy to use, as are the machines which we used to buy tickets. The hotel is about 5 mins away from Amsterdam Zuid station.
Only niggle about the hotel is the lack of storage space, as by the morning our room seemed to be very untidy with all our baggage etc everywhere. But we only stayed one night as we were travelling onto Zandvoort so it wasn't too much of an issue.
All in all a great stay & can't wait to return to the hotel again.

A repeat visit and an even stronger impression than the first time. Striking, modern decor. Friendly and helpful staff. Modern and comfortable rooms. Comfortable public spaces to relax in. Free wi-fi throughout. All-you-can-eat continental breakfast (extra charge). Direct train ride from the airport (though not the city centre line!). Short tram ride to the city centre. A memorable experience.

A great hotel. The rooms were spotless, the showers amazing, beds huge and staff bent over backwards for you. Good value for money. My one and only niggle... Everything in the room is controlled by the remote and ours kept freezing so it got a bit frustrating (and a bit cold). Unfortunately, public transport was on strike one day during the weekend of our stay, it was then that we realised how far out of the city centre the hotel actually is, under normal circumstances the tram stop is literally a minutes walk away so that wouldn't matter but I would recommend that people check trams/buses are running other wise its a very long walk or expensive taxi ride into the city.

Room Tip: Every room is exactly the same.

I am just back from a trip from Amsterdam with my boyfriend and we stayed in Citizen M Amsterdam City and from the moment we walked through the doors, we felt so welcome by all the staff and immediately felt at home. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and had perfect English - booking taxis for us and giving us advice on places to go and things to see - and the check in and check out service was very simple and efficient. The rooms are compact but have everything you need and are so clean too. The bed - well we nearly didn't leave the room at all because it was so big and comfortable with free movies, free Skype phone and mood lighting. Downstairs, you've a 24 hour bar and food service should you get peckish or thirsty during the night. It's a perfect location too - less than 5 min walk from Zuid station which is only a 5 min train journey from Schipol airport, and the tram stop to the city centre - Museum Quarter, Entertainment Quarter, Dam Square etc - is just around the corner and takes only 10 mins. We loved every minute of our stay and were very impressed with Afonso and the rest of the staff. We wouldn't hesitate in recommending it to our family and friends and would go back ourselves in a heartbeat. We're already planning our next trip!

Room Tip: There's a choice between garden or city view...

Visited this hotel in early October 2011 me and my boyfriend had a very pleasant stay, straight forward walk from the train station to the hotel (the public transport is excellent in Amsterdam), checked straight into our room no problem, great facilities in room, mood pad, shower etc and the bed is AMAZING. The reception staff were very helpful providing maps and even a plaster for a blister!!!!! The only thing that would have added to our stay would have been better breakfast facilities (they do a small selection & a breakfast bag). This hotel is easy to reach on a the tram line, we did not use any other forms of public transport when we were there. Brilliant hotel would recommend.

Room Tip: Just a note you can buy your tram tickets from the driver. You can get 1hr or 24 hr passes just get...
