Description: Vinkeles is housed in an old bakery; which was set up in 1787 by the Regents of the Catholic Church, who at the time owned the building. The bakery flourished until 1811 and guests still can see the original ovens, which were discovered intact during restoration work.Echoing the décor of the hotel, Executive Chef Dennis Kuipers’ menu combines the traditional and the modern. The dishes served in Vinkeles show Kuipers’ love of the contemporary French cuisine. He combines the freshest ingredients to produce a menu that is delicious and unique to Vinkeles. In 2009 restaurant Vinkeles was awarded a Michelin star.

“Delightful experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013

Superb food. Went for the 5 course menu (which seemed like 8 with all the muse bouches) and it was delightful. Seemed to be substantially better deal value wise than the 8 course deal. We had the wines too and the sommelier was extremely knowledgeable.
Food was a real delight, portions slightly bigger than usual but an amazing experience.
Congratulations to the Head Chef and his team
Mark

“Three nights, four stars and one top dining choice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

We spent a long week-end in Amsterdam visiting the recently re-opened Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk and Van Gogh Museum. During our visit we ate at two one-star Michelins and one two-star, and Vinkeles (one of the one-stars) was by far our top choice. To start, the intimate restaurant (located in The Dylan) is beautiful (not glamorous) with bare old brick walls and floors, antique serving tables, and little touches of refined taste (e.g., small sculptures on each table and simple yet beautiful flower arrangements by the windows). The staff (and especially the maitre 'd/sommelier on the night we dined) were highly professional and knowledgeable without being pretentious.. The menu has a small number of selections, but based on our sampling each course was superb (e.g., white asparagus and black truffle young salad and turbot and sea cabbage with foam of Tom Yum and goose liver). The wine list is also not expansive, yet offers very good selections and the sommelier really knows his wines. We finished with an excellent selection of well-aged cheeses (only one Dutch) with a glass of Riesling and LBV port to conclude an immensely enjoyable evening. The combination of ingredients-lovely, warm atmosphere, professional staff, superb ingredients + refined cooking made this our top choice. (And another plus: several of the main courses offer a choice of "starter" or "regular" portions, which we welcome since we tend to prefer "fein aber klein", i.e., fine but small or, more simply, quality over quantity.)

“You don't have to look far!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013

Staying in the Dylan was wonderful and looking at the menu in the lift on the way to our room encouraged us to try the Vinkeles restaurant in the hotel. Excellent tasting menu with good wine pairings. Helpful and cheerful staff in the restaurant added to the dining pleasure.

“A food experience to remember”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

We hesitated to eat at a restaurant at our hotel with so many choices in Amsterdam, but after reading the menu we could not resist. Our experience here was amazing. The food was and the perfect balance between flavors and was a orgasmic experience.

“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2013

A wonderful treat and enjoyed it very much. Good wine list too. We were a bit late but they held our table outside. Overall, a must visit restaurant in Amsterdam and certainly so in August if some others are closed (not sure).
