Description: Vinkeles is housed in an old bakery; which was set up in 1787 by the Regents of the Catholic Church, who at the time owned the building. The bakery flourished until 1811 and guests still can see the original ovens, which were discovered intact during restoration work.Echoing the décor of the hotel, Executive Chef Dennis Kuipers’ menu combines the traditional and the modern. The dishes served in Vinkeles show Kuipers’ love of the contemporary French cuisine. He combines the freshest ingredients to produce a menu that is delicious and unique to Vinkeles. In 2009 restaurant Vinkeles was awarded a Michelin star.

“A delight”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

We had the 6 course tasting menu, very adventurous cuisine as we had everything from a celery desert to a snail ravioli. The venison we had was marvellous and overall was a great experience. Not cheap as you'd expect but great service and up with the best restaurants of this type in amsterdam

“Attentive and creative - at a price!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

Very classy restaurant. Booked this for a treat whilst on holiday. The staff were very attentive without being stuffy/snobby/overbearing. The food was excellent - especially liked the artichoke/black olive amuse bouche.

It was quite expensive though - we went with the modest options and still came to 200 euros (with wine)

“A Gastronomical Delight”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

Refined french cuisine with a Dutch touch. This restaurant oozes it's Michelin Star status. The eye for detail, the exquisit design of the restaurant, the subtle art that decorate the tables, the way the staff handle you, makes this an unique place to dine, you feel very much at ease.

Don't expect fancy high tech nouvelle cuisine with a lot of fusion influences. It's pretty traditional dishes prepared and served in a very original and very tasty way. The sequence of flavours, fragrances are dazzling.

We took 5 courses, which is really plenty. Our taste buds were treated to an explosion of taste with every course and amuse geule. The fun part is that old fashioned ingredients are used to make the dishes really interesting and unique, think of yellow beets or pig skin on top of coquilles St Jacques. It's a feast!

Vinkeles is not cheap. The wines are very expensive, most bottles are +80 euros.
We chose the matching wines, which is I think the best deal and a real treat. It's fun to discover new wines.

The setting is lovely, the staff are apt, present, not too present (nobody asks if you're doing fine when you have your mouth full in the midst of a dish, I love that) and the staff have a flair, something very dutch, very amical, very professional, very kind. Truly perfect.

It's expensive, but it's not a bad deal!

“Gastronomical experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

Set in a sunken dining room surrounded by original 18th century ovens that once served as a bakery for the Catholic Poor Peoples Office with views overlooking the garden, the restaurant offers an intimate and elegant setting blending the old world of Authentic Amsterdam with the new, refined style of today. Michelin star restaurant with a great menu.

“Fantastic food. Great attention to gluten issues”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012 via mobile

The meal was fantastic in so many ways. The chef loves to experiment. Creative and wonderful combinations of flavours, textures and colours. Great service. A wonderful setting. And absolutely no issues for those that require a gluten free meal. Well done
